Quest for Infamy / Re: PAYPAL PLEDGE TO Quest For Infamy
« on: May 20, 2013, 10:20:45 PM »
Wow, bummer!  I think it looks like the team kept the PayPal open through March, but closed before the beginning of April.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, though.  You can always send a PM to Blackthorne (or send him an e-mail, blackthorne@infamous-adventures.com), but he probably sold all the Big Boxes they're ordering.

I feel your pain, buddy... but the game is totally going to be worth it, even with the wait!

Oh, man, I hope the system requirements sticker doesn't go away!  I agree that they weren't the most awesome feature of gameboxes of yore, but their inclusion on a retro Big Box feels almost mandatory!  I, at least, cast my vote for keeping them  :)

The only flaw I see is that the sticker font isn't quite awful enough  ;-)

Banter and Chit-Chat! / Re: It's Official, TellTale's KQ is cancelled!

That was hinted, that the "project" (hesitate to call it that at such a nascent stage) would be shifted internally.  But then again, there were the rumors that Roberta would be coming out of retirement to work on a KQ-licenced work with Paul Trowe!  So, you never know what B.S. the internet is going to bubble up. Pretty sure that last rumor came from Paul himself, though.

Haha, man, that cover is so over-the-top... fantastic!  She's really outdone herself.  It's full-on Frazetta mode!!   :)

They're converting the business into a licensing entity (per their press release).  I sincerely hope this results in streamlined licensing... I'd love to see a small crew do a retro-styled Indiana Jones game like from the 90's. I always thought there should have been 2-3 more of them  :)

Wow, that was a whirlwind... sometimes a relationship burns too hot, and too quickly.  Sometimes that's a sign, other times it's not.  Sorry to hear it, though... it's rarely easy.  :-\

Thanks Klytos!  It was fun  8)

Backed & posted!  Great to see Ken supporting you as well... seems that you indie game musicians need to stick together, eh?

Showing off the Big Map, are we now?  Good thing there's a spoiler tag on the topic... there were readable parts in the legend and some of the unfinished rooms...

Can't wait to see the cave maze backgrounds!

Well, Lamb, I'm not sure that's the right question.  Is this a list of "QFG style games", or a list of "QFG related projects"?

It appears that Blake00 has labeled it the latter, where the the answer is clear.  Do all the other projects in the list look or play like QFG?

This is, of course, also ignoring Dragon Fire, which was obviously very different (a number of ARPG's might be argued to be QFGV-like, but that's completely beside the point).

Wow, asianmusicguy, your grammar really is spot-on when it really matters!

Congrats, Jerm! I really was hoping that one of the culturally clueless would ask what you've been up to, since the wedding... timely opportunities for lowbrow humor are few and far between.  I guess I'll have to do the job with a bit of cliche!

So, from the backers... do us proud, tiger!!  ;)

Quest for Infamy / Re: Backers Contest! - Write Something Funny!
« on: March 10, 2013, 04:52:13 AM »
My lady love is fond of writing these, and whipped up a few to make me laugh.  I thought I'd share them here:

Here lies the best tinker I've ever kno

Beneath this stone lie May and June.
Some say they died much too soon.
In life they were sisters known to all.
Taken from us with one great fall.

Here lies Mr. Ringer.
We can't be sure which one.

Let it be written upon this stone,
for the whole of the world to bear witness
to the memory and legacy
of one truly gentle and loving spirit.
Ripped from the earth and torn asunder
by an all-consuming wasting,
for which we had no combat,
a fine woman has been taken from us
and we will mourn her loss, deeply.

TL; DR - Mary is dead.

... but it's possibly the best example of storytelling ever in the video game medium.

And some of the best "rewards" for going off the beaten path.  Exploration and discovery of side areas and minutiae really fill it out, making it feel vastly rich and deep.
