Our friends over at Replay Games have just released Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded, a modern and fresh remake of the now-classic original.
Go over there. Buy it now. It's well worth it!

I'm playing it currently - and it really is awesome. A lot of fun - the writing/interactions are amazing.

As someone who's tested the game extensively, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Try to find all of the easter eggs. Some of them are pretty damn cool.

What? Playing "other" games? You've got your own game to produce there, mister.
Get back to work, you bums. >:( No down-time 'til QFI is officially released !!!

Consider it..."research material". ;)

I'll be a little suspicious if Mr. Roehm trades in his cloak for a polyester leisure suit...
"Hey, baby... Check out the size of my lapels..."

To be honest, even before this, I had one subtle LSL reference/joke in the game already!!

I seem to recall putting one in a certain background where drunkenness and antics can ensue...

Looks like an extensive easter egg hunt is now called for. ;D
-
Oh yeah. Loosening the purse strings for this one...
Any LSL reference in a game is a good one! Never gets old... :D
-
I was one of the early backers, and this game was worth the time and the money ;D
-
Does anyone else find the price tag a little excessive? QFI opens for preorders at $15 and it's a brand new game and IP. Replay is charging $20 for a remake of a game we've already played.
-
It was $15 on kickstarter. So a $20 release price makes their kickstarter backers feel like they got a better deal. I'm sure they'll put it on sale before the end of the year, it's just easier to drop a price than it is to raise it.
Now QFI is too cheap/a real bargain.
-
I don't think $20 is too much to ask for LSL. Seems to be a pretty good price point to me.
Sektor, I'd be happy to charge you more for your copy if you think QFI is too cheap! :)

Bear in mind as well that a game with a well known name (or made by a well known name) whether it is a remake or not, is often a safer bet than a total unknown/newcomer in the eyes of the casual consumer. By casual I mean someone who hasn't been avidly following the kickstarters and hype pre release, but may just stumble across it on Steam or in a shop. It's a pimped out version of something you already know you like, but may not have played for a long time, so I think they can justify the extra money from that point of view.
We're always going to have to work harder to bring in fans/consumers because we're really just starting out in the commercial world, but I think $15 is a reasonable price either way. Better than AAA prices, right? :)
-
I'd much rather pay $15-20 for a quality indie game than $60+ for a subpar AAA title, but that's just me.
-
I think for a digital download, $15 is a very reasonable price for QFI. We will be offering other physical copies that will cost more, but I think this puts the game at an affordable level for all kinds of people!
And if you want to support IQ more, when we open our store to sell some fun swag, you can always purchase some goodies to go along with our games!

I would be happy to pay the same amount for the LSL remake as I paid for the Monkey Island remakes, but I really wouldn't be able to justify any more than that. I can't remember what the MI remakes originally retailed for, but I do believe it was less than $20. I can understand the feeling that $20 is a little pricey for an HD remake. Though I tend to see both sides--being on the dev side gives you a bit of a different perspective on things. I see a few missed opportunities in the LSL remake, but I like it overall and feel like it was a good purchase. And I bought it at the $20 price point. I didn't back any of the Sierra revival kickstarters--I felt like all of the pitches left me wanting.
