Title: SPOILER - A Small Map of The Game
Post by: Blackthorne on March 27, 2013, 08:34:49 PM
Hey backers!

Okay - here's a little taste for you.  This is a map of the game, so far.  There are some backgrounds that aren't on here, but this is the basic layout of the game.  The map is small, and details aren't clear at this point - I don't want you to spoil the thing yet!  But I wanted to give you a taste of the size of this game.

Hope you enjoy.

Wouldn't it be easier to just rotate the rose?

That depends on the Rose in question.  And whether she's had too much to drink.

I thought we moved on from Rose by about three or four companions now (and one regeneration)

Showing off the Big Map, are we now?  Good thing there's a spoiler tag on the topic... there were readable parts in the legend and some of the unfinished rooms...

Can't wait to see the cave maze backgrounds!

Can we ever REALLY move on from Rose though? Really?

Wow, big map!  Looks cool, I only wish I could see it better...reminds me of that big map of the Overworld on Legend of Zelda somehow. :D  (good times...)

Reminds me of drawing all the maps for the Sierra games back then.
Wish to still have them. Bummer!
It took me ages in QfGIII to draw one but I loved to do so.
Missing that in adventures nowadays.

Last game I did it was in Botanicula:

I used to draw maps like that.  I also used to translate sprites onto graph paper, pixel by pixel.  Somewhere I've got a whole book of 'em!  :)

A fellow mapper!  I am slowly digitizing (http://games.thehawkonline.com/kq/kq3/llewdor.html) all mine, replacing hand-drawn with screen-shot versions as much as possible- sometimes also pixel-by-pixel..

Another fellow mapper here.

I started out using GEM Draw Plus for DOS in the early 1990s, then migrated to Excel for Windows (works SO well at achieving perfectly aligned boxes and lines).  I still use Excel today!

I think we need to have an old-school mapping contest when QFI is released.  Whoever can map out the game in the most accurate and creative(!) fashion wins some kind of special prize.

That and the fact that you'd probably have to play the game multiple times to see the whole map...;)

Play-though #1: Play and just enjoy the game
Play-through #2: 'sketch' the layout (I used to use Excel too, but switched to Visio several years ago when I had to learn it for my work)
Play-though #3+: Screen-shots, at least two per screen so I can 'paint out' the avatar and any other 'undesirables' that I don't want in the finished product

let me guess the mad architect / landscaper created some sort of insane tesseracty mobius strip area whos screens will drive us insane to look at them.

Either that, or they will intentionally release QFI with a couple of screens/rooms missing on purpose, just so they can capitalize on the money-grab that is the current DLC craze.

Wanna to finish the game?  Then fork over the bucks for the missing parts!  People, Blackthorne's gotta a wicked-bad marmite addiction that his current income level simply cannot support!

I used to map games like k0SH posted. I think I might still have my HQ1 map around somewhere.
