IQ Chat / IQ will be at Adventure-X 2012!
« on: September 16, 2012, 11:16:24 AM »

Infamous Quests will be at Adventure-X 2012 on 15th - 16th December in London, UK. We'll have a booth set up and you'll be able to play the latest Quest for Infamy demo, ask us any questions and we might even have some awesome merchandise up for grabs too!

Last year we went to the very first Adventure-X, held in a quaint pub house near Oxford on a cold December weekend. It was a good turn out, met a bunch of very talented developers and enthusiastic gamers and saw some great presentations and game previews. The event showed a lot of promise and it's great to know that Adventure X will be returning again this year. It's going to be bigger, better and held in London this time around - and we'll be there too!

Adventure-X is still a new concept and the previous year showed a lot of potential to finally be the convention for adventure gamers alike. Unlike other conventions, Adventure X doesn't have the backing of sponsors, big publishers or some kind of rich oil tycoon. Just like the recent surge of adventure games, Adventure X needs YOU to make it happen.

A crowd funding page has been set up on IndieGoGo and the event is asking for a rather modest $2,200 to fund the event. Once funded, it will be free entry and easy to get to for our UK and European adventure gamers and be an exciting opportunity to meet other adventure gamers and developers alike.

And it's not just Quest for Infamy that will be in attendance, you'll also be able to meet Dave Gilbert from Wadjet Eye Games, the team that developed the fantastic Resonance and Gemini Rue and also see the latest from Heroine's Quest by Crystal Shard (developers of A Tale of Two Kingdoms). There are still plenty of guests yet to be confirmed so keep checking the page for updates of who will be in attendance.

So if you love adventure games, you're free and able to get to London on the 15th and 16th December then drop by and check it out. And if you're feeling very generous, please pledge and make Adventure-X the adventure gaming convention we've always hoped for. Let's make this happen!

Check out the Adventure X page on IndieGoGo for more information and to pledge. Don't forget to like them on Facebook too!

Banter and Chit-Chat! / London 2012 open ceremony
« on: July 28, 2012, 11:27:58 AM »
So who watched the open ceremony to the London 2012 Olympics? I thought it was fantastic, really made me proud to be British. Preps to Danny Boyle for making one hell of a British spectacle.

How about others who watched it? Liked it? Confused? Best bits? Worst bits?

I'm excited to have the Olympics but I'm not stepping one foot in central London. It'll be so damned busy but I'm happy to watch some events in the comfort of my own home. ;)

IQ Chat / Quest for Infamy - Funded at $63,281
« on: July 07, 2012, 07:27:53 AM »

At precisely 5:46PM EST it all came to a close. The 30 days had come to an end and Quest for Infamy was succesfully funded at an amazing $63,281. That's 253% of our funded target of $25,000 and we cannot thank you enough. We're so thrilled to be making this game and your commitment, love and support has made this an ultimate reality. Quest for Infamy was the project that bought myself, Steve and Shawn together almost 10 years ago and it's fitting it's now the project that steps us forward into the commercial world. So once again, we're so stoked to be making this game and we couldn't have done it with you all.

Steve is feeling a bit under the weather at the moment but apart from the unfortate time timing he is absolutely humbled at your support as we all are so once again thank you all.

We'll keep you updated with the development of Quest for Infamy as we did with the Kickstarter campaign. An official statement will be released later on today but we just wanted to let you know the team is looking forward to this exciting chapter in our lives and we want to make Quest for Infamy as awesome as a game as we possibly can.

Stay tuned.

Quest for Infamy / Meet Team Infamy
« on: July 05, 2012, 03:36:34 PM »
It's been an AMAZING campaign!  We've reached $50,000!  That is double our original funding, and it's allowed us to do so much more with not only the game, but with the presentation of it and the interaction with fans.  Now, we'll be able to get the game translated into other languages and reach a wider audience.  I love how adventure games transcend not only time, but also languages, cultures and countries.

I'm proud to be able to call people from all over the globe friends.  This experience, making games, has brought the world into my living room and has brought me into the world at large.  Some people never get that kind of experience, and for that - I thank all of you for allowing it to happen.

And the team is also comprised of people from all across the globe too!  I want to invite you to watch this video - "Meet Team Infamy" and get to better know the people who are making the game.  These guys are all amazing, creative and talented, and I want you to know who you're supporting.

Wow, that's all I can say. Just 3 days ago we launched our Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to produce Quest for Infamy and we're already quarter into our target of $25,000 with over 200 backers already! Thank you all so much. This has been an exciting past couple of days and the attention this thing has got has been astounding so thank you from all the team.

We hope you've played and enjoyed the demo.  I'm attaching some images here that might help you with the demo if you've had any trouble.  Click on the links to view them in their full resolutions!

And here's the town map so you can find your way around Volksville.

We are also adding a tier at $150 dollars.  This will include all the rewards of the $100 tier, plus a signed print of in game portrait art by Jenny Pattison.  You may choose from Roehm, Rayford, Prospero, Ian, Kurdt, Udo, Brattle, Jan, or Kit.  Jenny will personally sign these - with her own hands and a pen!

Please check our Kickstarter page for more info and keep up the pledges.

Quest for Infamy / Behind the Scenes: Prospero
« on: June 06, 2012, 03:25:16 PM »
Propero - "Mr Magic"

So who is Prospero? Where did the inspiration for his look come from? Jen Pattison, aka Corrigan who is our portrait artist for Quest for Infamy explains how she designed the character, the technique and the process behind it and other cool little details.

"He is an elderly wizard from far off lands, so I needed to age his face a great deal after the initial sketch to reflect that.  I played around with it to see how far I could push that aspect and also darkened his skin to give him a tanned, weathered appearance.  We have quite a mixture of stylistic influences in the game, with characters and architecture/furnishings from many different cultures.  We have also attempted to stay away from too many fantasy clichés, so I kept that in mind when designing his hair and beard.  This portrait was done entirely in Photoshop CS5 with a Wacom Intuos4 graphics tablet, from initial sketch through to the finished artwork.  I work at a high resolution, normally 300dpi and then scale down for in-game use."

Click the animation for a closer look at Prospero's process.

So how does he fare in game? Find out by downloading the Quest for Infamy demo and backing our Kickstarter campaign.

Here's some concept art of 'The Beast' from Quest for Infamy. Who exactly is the beast anyway? Will you battle her? Befriend her? Whatever the case, we think it's pretty badass.
