That was by Jason Lamb.

Woo-hoo, an update! I can tell you spent a ton of time on it and thank you for that, Bt! Wow, great job Jason, the forest looks perfect--beautiful & rich-looking with just a touch of creepy. The mines look wonderfully mysterious too...is that gold I see for the taking?? :P I don't know who did the other backgrounds but to me they look just flawless. I can't say enough good stuff about it.
The portraits look awesome of course, as always! I feel like I'm looking into the eyes of a real person when I see Rynn's face. He looks so warm and kind-hearted. O'Burr looks like he has a mean streak. That crow on his shoulder says it all...
I gotta run, I want to write more but I actually had to kinda skim the update for now. I can't wait to listen to some of James's music & watch the production videos. You guys have been working so hard and it really shows. I really am dumbfounded by the amount of talent you all have--what a great team. Ecstatic to see the final product & hoping to get other people to buy the game & support all your time & efforts as well! I'm so proud to be a backer.
Till later, cheers!!

Wow! Great to see that the game is progressing and in such beautiful fashion :) Well done team infamy, can't wait to play the finished product!
-
Great update and, as usual, awesome artwork. I applaud the whole team for such a great job and I love these little windows into the development process. I'm so jealous of the skill you guys have and I can't wait to see more.

Will this be the first full length game that isn't a remake released by kickstarter project?

I don't know, off the top of my head, but I don't think so. Who knows, right?

I think so too, clearly if it is not the first it must be one of a very small group. I am aware that it is largely irrelevant. But why I mentioned it is it does show the dedication of Infamous Quests. Simply securing funding does not get a game made, looking at the slow progress on several other adventure kickstarter projects you guys deserve to be congratulated all the more!
-
Aw, shucks. We're just hard working people trying to make a good game - a game we'd love to play.

@rugged. Team infamy is comprised of the folks who gave us for Free games like Kings quest 3 and Space quest 2 remakes. Which to myself and others Shows that they already have the skills needed to make a great game. I myself would love to make a game, however lack the time and programming skills which makes this impossible. Other Big kickstarters with well know names have failed as of yet to produce a game with budgets 20-30 times that of Quest for Infamy. The only game I know of to be released is the Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded, funded by kickstarters, which is pretty damn awesome.
That all said I know QFI is going to be GREat!!

Yip I am aware of the history of infamous adventures, I have been part of the fan community for over a decade. Heck I knew Shawn back when Australia were actually srugby league world cup champs (which is ages ago eh shwan!) and even did a tiny amount of beta testing on Kq3. So I knew they had the chops to finish the project, but I have been impressed with the speedof production.
-
Gotta let you sheep lovers win a cup every so often. Otherwise it would just be boring. (Please note this does not refer to State of Origin which is only supposed to be won by Queensland. Ever.)

Aw thanks! ;)

Pandora: Purge of Pride came out not too long ago. Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams was one of the earliest I know of to release, and I think that's different enough from the original Mario clone-ish game to count as a non-remake, but it was almost complete when they ran the Kickstarter and just needed the funds to get over the last hurdle.

Just saw Lamb's sketch video. Love that he pops up that picture from Raiders for reference about midway through.
-
If you've even spoken with Lamb at length, at least ONE Indiana Jones reference will ALWAYS keep up. It's Lambs Law.
As time increases, the likelihood of a reference to Indiana Jones increases.

Didn't POS finish Cognition? That was funded by kickstarter.
-
Yeah, exactly! That was early - that was even before Double Fine - and they delivered!
Bt
-
Yip, though I was talking about full length games rather then episodes
-
True - but they are about to release their last episode, bringing the game to a close.

There have been a few Kickstarted games that have been released. Resonance, FTL, and Cogntion (all of which were before I joined the site but have picked up since) have been released as well as Larry.
-
Great thanks for the list! And yip Phoenix have done very very well with Cognition, while also working on Moebius, pretty amazing really!
Completely unrelated but I would love to know what LSL reloaded sales figures have been like. It is clear the genre won't keep afloat on Kickstarters that rely on super-fans paying big bucks for premium rewards.
-
I'm only at liberty to say that the sales for Larry have been good.
-
Yeah, the unofficial word is that LSL has sold hundreds of thousands of copies - which bodes well, I think, for adventure gamers. Even though it was a well known IP, it's sales help everyone out there trying to make adventure games.

Heh...yeah, in the full narrated version of that sketch video, I explained that I had that image from Raiders in my mind as a conceptual reference. There's not really anything in the final version of the screen that is directly lifted from it, but I liked the idea of the rocky grotto with a central altar, and that basically served as the general inspiration for the screen. :)
-
Oh for sure, I had thought that before you pulled it up and then realized who I was watching.
-
Heh, Lamb and his Indy references never get old.
If ever there were films to reference cool visuals though, it's definitely an Indy film no doubt. Cheers sir.

Finally got to look at the QFI Summer update now that I have my new rig up and running -- nice to see the blossoming fruits of everyone's tremendous work! Can't wait for the finished product.
Um... Speaking of my new computer: QFI _will_ be DOS 3.1 compatible, right? If not, should I start thinking about investing in Windows 3.0? :-\
Respectfully,
The Year 1990

Geez man, I was running DOS 4 and Window 3.0 in 1990! :)

DOS 3.22 4-EVER, leet users.

Well, I'm not one of those early adopters; I just want to make sure all the bugs are worked out for DOS 4 and that it won't be a total disaster like the roll-out for DOS 2.1 was... :-[

In 1990, I was still using my Atari ST. No DOS, no Windows, just the friendly GUI of the ST.

That used GEM for the GUI, didn't it?
Love me some GEM -- we used GEM for DOS on our first IBM-clone in 1989.
In fact, I still used it in DOSBox on occasion...

Atari ST. Nolan Bushnell is still screaming.

Man that machine could do some amazing stuff on 512K ram - still waiting for sierra rooms to load or a season to update on championship manager was a drag!
