Title: QFG4 - Shadow of Darkness - Official Soundtrack Release
Post by: Goatmeal on December 06, 2015, 03:09:25 PM
I checked the IQ/IQ Twitter feed yesterday, and saw that Aubrey Hodge's Official Soundtrack for Quest For Glory 4 was finally released.  I usually checked his Bandcamp page every couple of days for signs of progress, but BT beat me to the punch yesterday!

It's WELL worth the $15 price.

I'm only a quarter-way through listening to the "real instrument" versions, but "Erana's Staff' is my current favorite by far; this arrangement is so achingly beautiful, yet haunting at the same time...

Purist Warning / Buyer Beware: While every track from the game is included as a ultra high end Sound Canvas version, not EVERY track has been remade using real instruments -- BT asked Aubrey about that, and his reply was "that it would've 'taken too long!'"

This is so awesome, i love this Soundtrack and the new "Real Instruments"-Versions are fantastic. Can't wait for the "Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist"-Soundtrack, i loved this game and his Soundtrack so much. It would be so great if this game would finally be available at GOG for a newer Audience.

Me, too. It's a wonderful soundtrack, that one.

Another great one is the music for "Return To Krondor" -- have that one on CD, too.

Have you heard something that Aubrey is redoing the FP:FP score, too?

I know that back in 2010/2011, Sierra Music Central did a huge CD/DVD version of the soundtrack from the original game sources (MIDIs + low kHz digital tracks), along with images, text, etc. about the game, soundtrack & creators.

Aubrey actually contributed 4 remixes to the project!

He announced it here (http://www.aubreyhodges.com/the-sierra-series-soundtrack-coming-soon/), but sadly i dont know if he will re-arrange some tracks with modern samples or real instruments again. Personally i think he will, but thats just my own supposition.

He announced 4 new soundtracks of his old Sierra titles:

1. Quest for Glory 4
2. Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist
3. Shadow of Yserbius
4. Robin Hood: Conquests of the Longbow

I wonder how much effort would be required to integrate these arrangements into the game...

...because I would TOTALLY play it again for that pleasure.
