I love H.G. Wells!  Have you read any John Wyndham, Jon?  If not I highly recommend, similar style and very thought provoking social commentary in a sci-fi setting.

Oh I enjoyed that one as well, S_D, a very wacky treasure hunt of a tale.  Short too, you could blast through it in a day at the beach :)

He'd lie to you??  What a putz.  I STILL have yet to meet someone in person who feels the passion I do about these types of games.  Even my husband thinks I'm nuts...(but he doesn't know what he's missing, poor guy...)  ;)  Needless to say, I'm grateful to meet people like you guys.

Yeah, he made up this really elaborate story about how there were actually three different worlds in Simon the Sorcerer 1.  A kinda cloud land, and the regular one, and an underworld, and I had to get up the wall with the pegs to find them.

What. An. Asshole.

Also always been super disappointed that none of that actually exists.  Childhood ruined.

You guys were lucky to have friends who played when you were kids. I didn't meet anyone who did until I went to secondary school (age 11-17), and he used to tell me lies when I asked for help.

Goatmeal is like that one guy on your course who keeps telling you how many days left until your dissertation hand-in.

I'm currently reading the fourth Gotrek and Felix omnibus, so book 10 in the series.  It switched writers halfway through the third set of books, and it's amazing how well the new author has captured the style and mood.

You'd think ten books of bar brawls, grumbling and trudging about mines and dungeons might get boring eventually, but it hasn't yet!

Great example of that here (sorry, I never remember how to post videos in this forum) where a Shakespeare play is performed with the version of English it was originally written in.  It's not the whole play, just an interview with some examples, but I found it really interesting.

Only in the sense that it grew from magic beans. So yes.  Magic watermelon.

Can the tuba have a watermelon jammed in it?  Or does that only work with sousaphones?
