Banter and Chit-Chat! / Re: What is your favorite rpg series?
« on: October 19, 2014, 12:10:15 AM »
Favorite is Ultima, with 5, 6 and 7 fighting for the top spot. That's why I'm backing Shroud of the Avatar, since it's the same creator and he is trying to get back to those roots.

In a close second is Quest for Glory, which is why this game, plus Hero-U and Mage's Initiation are on my list.

No other series game me the same enjoyment as those two.

I played EQ for the first 13 or so years, and occasionally login still. When I get in a MMO mood, it's usually for SWToR, but I usually play solo or with a few friends. Play a lot of single player games. Right now I'm waiting for the next prealpha for Shroud of the Avatar, which will be my next online game.

Quest for Infamy / Re: character stuck near living tree bridge
« on: July 27, 2014, 10:45:15 PM »
Are you a brigand? If so, have you met with Kurdt and learned the way to the Den? Otherwise, you should have gotten a message when approaching the left side of the screen, but if you were clicking it may have been dismissed too quickly.

I started playing through for the third time, this time as a rogue (brigand and sorcerer were fun!). I kind of agree that the chain is overpowered. I went to fight undead after buying chain, just to raise my weapon skills, and block quickly made this easy (where before I would easily be slaughtered).

Perhaps chain+block should only negate ~90% of the damage, but still leave a reason for healing potions during a long/hard fight.

Also, with the influx of money, I never bothered to buy leather armor on any of the characters. I was originally expecting the smith to be more like Mr. Magic, and require me to buy it before he would sell the chainmail. Is there a way to swap out inventory items, so say the chainmail and greatsword only become available in Act II? That way there would be a reason to upgrade to leather armor and bastard sword, rather than just skipping them.

Quest for Infamy / Re: DLC/FUTURE UPDATES
« on: July 20, 2014, 12:59:25 PM »
One of my favorite paladin classes in D&D 3.5 is the Grey Knigt, who is basically a paladin who has to do the dirty work that their goody two shoes brothers can't do; things like assassinating evil overlords, before they can start a war that might kill millions. I can definitely see Roehm becoming this kind of paladin, where he does what has to be done, even if it's distasteful, because not doing it would be worse.

Once you get 50 Thieving skill (at least, that is when it started with me), it seems that the text for geting a skillup when using pickpocket dip does not match up to when the skill actually increases.

Here is a savegame from when it started happening. Click the pickpocket dummy, then leave the den and come back, try again. The notification and the skillup are off by 4-5 attempts.

Quest for Infamy / Bug with Bracers of Stealth
« on: July 19, 2014, 03:23:05 PM »
If you equip the Bracers of Stealth, your Stealth skill is increased by 10. However, if you unequip it your skill only decreases by 5. Thus, but equipping and unequipping it repeatedly, you can raise your skill FAR above the standard cap of 100.

Quest for Infamy / Re: is this a bug or a feature
« on: July 19, 2014, 08:53:54 AM »
I've noticed similar pathing issue anywhere that movement is automated (moving down the small hill in the cemetary, several places between scenes, and the ones you have mentioned).

You can get your skill to 110 if you have the bracers for your class. The bracers from Mr. Magic raises your skill by 10. If that is not the case, it might be a bug (the team would have to verify).

Quest for Infamy / Re: Help with last spell
« on: July 19, 2014, 08:50:34 AM »
Well, you didn't *have* to destroy the tree to get the owl to leave. There is another method.

Which angel are you looking at, the cherub or the weeping praying angel? Do you have anything that you might be able to use on the wings to... loosen them?

Quest for Infamy / [minor] Text error
« on: July 18, 2014, 11:12:19 PM »
I found a text error. When you mean Ian at the thieves' den, and ask him where the action is, he says "I can give you a couple of idea." The audio says "ideas" correctly.

Quest for Infamy / Re: Spell component question
« on: July 18, 2014, 11:10:10 PM »
If you are a rogue, no you can't get the component for the spell. Only sorcerers, as far as I can tell.

You're on the right track for the spell component, but its not a pigeon you need to find. Look for other birds, especially ones that sit still for longer, and see if you can't knock something loose.

Quest for Infamy / [minor] Jan's voice after rescuing Arrows
« on: July 18, 2014, 10:02:25 PM »
After releasing the arrows and flirting with Voleris, Jan says "I'll stay here in case more of Rayford's guards come along." just before you leave (and get the Arrow through your heart achievement). However, there is no audio to accompany this.

Quest for Infamy / [minor] Voice when looking at dyed robes
« on: July 18, 2014, 09:34:47 PM »
After dying the robes green, looking at them in the inventory gives you a description, but the narrator just says "Dammit!". While hilarious, I'm not sure its correct. =)
