We did that with QFI but for OOTT only Steve and Myself were using the profits from the sales to maintain a wage, everyone else was paid up front.

You would literally have to do something else to fund this, and do it for the love of the art and whatever profits you happen to revive. There are easier legitimate ways to make money online.

cant deny the quality
though sadly again the backer kits or ks stuff not going out is whole-heartedly  concerning.

Maybe its because of development, if somebody produces a good game after such effort and a insane amount of time, trying to make more as well. It probably takes everything given and more.

I wonder if people would rather get useless fluff stuff or further delay the release of the last remaining games a company is making?

I know there is something to be said for getting what you pay for, as a point of the matter obviously, people dont like to feel  screwed, even if it its just inane memorabilia.

I would think a mention in the game would be enough if you were donating with the intent of trying to support the release of such games to play.

Yeah its free to give a shout out, but the less money the company has the longer productions takes and I would think people would rather play the game sooner than not. Such as the new Roehm to ruin game.

Its obvious to me painfully so these people are not wealthy, and are struggling to create something of value.

Yet lack of funds is why the company is tanking and if you enjoyed the games it seems it would be wise not to push this to the last extremity.

These people from what I can gather of them, would without a doubt do whatever they could to meet there obligations.

Its my opinion that if they are not, its because they literally cannot afford to do so. Considering the announcement the issue seems distasteful.

One should go to a flea market or fair, and have your own shirt or whatever made if its that important. That is just my view.

We didn't have the money to devote to QFI2 after QFI which is why we focused on a smaller game instead. QFI took nearly two years to make with a team of 10+ people.

No matter what happens you did a remarkable and worth wile thing with your games contribution. I can only hope that if not continued one day it will be revisited or picked up. I was really hoping it would be like another quest for glory series, with a detailed progression and outcome for Baron Roem. If only you could get the absolute support you need from interested parties. Have you tried companies? A publisher?

Btw I was hoping to see the Baron, Baron Roem was running from shit himself with the news of Roems new position in life...hahaha.

You know, Roem taunting him at the kings palace maybe at a celebration or award ceremony.

After all Roem went through he earned it, and should at least enjoy it for a bit. Dont you think?

OK, I asked a buddy of mine and he seems to think you should have followed up with soul focus on the quest for infamy line.

Like the prequel followed by a part two to import to, to keep interest high improving on the last instead of branching of too soon into another planed series until this was done.

Or based on limited resources simply the prequel, with an import feature to the based gamed and a planed release of part two.

Maybe the novelty of this might have been enough to keep appeal and interest high. Not that order was not a good idea, just too soon and confusing from a marketing standpoint, at this stage.

I know I am being a bit free with my advise, but I only want to help despite the presumption.

Honestly you would know better than I, I suposse just because people keep releasing them and getting funded dose not mean they actually make a real profit.

I suppose I am a fan of your stuff, and it saddens me you are not going to be able to at least make your new planed order games at least a trilogy, it deserves that.

I wish there was a marketing strategy that could be used to make it happened aimed at older players. I really cant stand the failure of imagination of many as of late and poor taste. More about things that don't matter than story and content.

Metaphorically speaking, I bet a lot of these guys could not sit through a wonderful play but might manage a musical. Those that could not see past stage settings to enjoy the games play and story.

Sad, sick world, as one of my favorite cartoon females would say.

You guys are just too good for this to happen. Its bs you deserve better. You put too much into this.

Order of the Thorne : The King's Challenge / Re: My thoughts on order.

I know the gnome was coincidental, I enjoyed the game very much and everything I am saying is complementary btw.
I  always liked little references in adventure games, which most of them have, like the sarus seller in qfg2. This is the same. I also think I spotted one to kingsquest in the seers hut, the guy with the feather in his cap?

Sorry not Jhon was thinking  Josh Mandel was in the game, don't know why.

I thought the tearm did well and were mostly funded? Succeeded where many failed?

There is this weirdo making a decent looking game, well almost, called rides with strangers got funded a while ago...prob more than needed, considering what it takes for a game like quest for infamy, which would take a lot considering its type.

He dose almost no pr. Steam is going strong and people are making a fortune of idiotic games with lego looking block men.

If a team like this gos under I don't know if I should cry or laugh.

23
Why would you guys stop making games when there is renewed interest these days?

I know there are many, many idiots out there, and this is not mainstream stuff they would like but that should only encourage you to be honest.

You guys have decent taste, keep making your games, there is a future in it. DON'T LISTEN TO PEOPLE TOO STUPID TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE EVEN PLAYING...who had no reason to pick up this type of game to begin with, which is perfectly what it was intended to be.

You guys probably did a better job on this than was done on quest for glory 3, actually you did for a fact...at least your game dose not close down all the time giving the error you did something we did not expect.

I mean really. Just don't let things get you down, you guys are right helpful bastards actually.

I liked it, its innocence was charming, it made me smile, like axl rose said, it reminded me of childhood memories where every day was as clear as the bright blue sky. I enjoyed the stairway to heaven reference btw.

Any cheesiness it had was in a good way, a fun way, like the power rangers style bee henchmen and Lord sinister. It was great.

That seemed to be the gnome from daventry in the agdi remake on kingsquest 2.

I noticed john on the credits list btw, is that who i think it is? Only lore recommendation, kind of softpeddal the atheism when it comes to king author.

That reminds me, was there also a ''wicked'' Magregor mathers reference in there? The unknown god?

Fyi, try playing the qfi game not stat maxing at the start as in my guide, but going to 50, this is more realistic for you, to be able to max them in the normal course of things, as a fun thing to try.

You've got to know where you're going.

I will say this, and I don't mean it to sound like I'm being an asshole, but ideas are a dime a dozen. If you want to develop your idea into a game you need to bring more to the table than just an idea.

I could put about 5k into it but to be honest thats all I could aford to spend on it at once. I really dont know much about fundrasing in the non profit sense. I could make a voiced skyrim follower mod (and have done so) but thats about the limit of my game making abilties. People would not really donate enough to be signifacant, they just downloaded the mod.

well in truth, if you are thinking of doing your own thing for now,
you can make a very small almost demo game just learn ags (if thats what you want to use)
its actually not that complicated!

buuut what is,  art, voicing etc, animations also can be really tough at some points, (look how awesome that kracken is in QFI!)

but the art, thats something one cant truly learn, just good at it or not

so if you cant draw or animate and dont have the powa of learning code for something even html or ags (yes some games are made with html (anarchy online was pure html code.. very easy to  ahem modify lolol luckily that crew are funny people soo)

1. get ags and read on it!
2. think of a story and some characters!
3. draw stuff out (concepts etc) if you cant find someone who can, some programs also let you convert adobe to ags style, pretty wicked too

get those first three things down and the rest is truly up to ya!

ive seen just 1 person make many games (very short ones) but those people usually are writers and artists that know how to animate anddd can use ags or something similar  Akril comes to mind, but not many would know of her.. though a recent talk with Cesar Bittar he remembers her well , and myself from the old gulp kq flop  grr

annnhooo, in the end it can be a single person effort but trust me just even going to the ags forums you would see most people post saying they have a story and such, but need animators or artists or sound peoples etc
you can post there also and ask for help with that! but just fyi MOST people there need coders and artist/animators the rest kinda can be learned

so more requests for those than anything else!
this is the WANTED section, chegit out!
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?board=20.0

happy gamin man! if you do intend to try, hit me ups! got loads of ideas and i know ags REALLY well, i cant draw for shat but i can animate so so, and for sure have the story/characters down pat :)
(just dont expect great syntax lol)

insert WORD CRIMES weird al video here!
l

I have a good story, characters and such. Its a great idea for a game, I have the machanics and gameplay worked out theroreticly.

What kind of investment am I looking at and...how do I stop people from stealing my materal and changing it before I am finished?

I have to share to get them to animate and such, but before its finished and the idea is brought into reality I dont want it taken in another direction entire. Its not about money with me its about the game idea.

I think it would be a fun and worthwhile game.

The fact that I'm the voice of Kessel and my wife is the voice of Ina makes things all that more weird.
