Adventure Games
« on: December 01, 2014, 09:11:55 PM »
It's probably because I have been around adventure gaming forums for close to 15 years, but lately - I feel very little want or need to engage any - especially any active ones.  Our forums, really, are the only ones I post on any more.

The discussions used to be more interesting, but now they almost always delve into the kind of moronic drivel I just want to avoid.

I just find myself lurking a lot, and never posting.

I hear that man.  I have always been mire of a lurker than a poster though.  I tend to lurk a whole lot less now compared to before.  That is probably because life gets in the way more than anything...that and I feel most forums tend to be filled with 12 year old trolls the majority of the time...or they act as if they were 12.  Either way.

Sad thing is, they're NOT 12 year old troll posters in most Adventure Game forums.  They're grown adults, acting like idiots.

Even the Sierra Facebook Sierra groups have become rife with idiots and rude asses. At least the SHP forums have remained civil, even if it is not as busy as it once was.

Indeed. The attached is a PM I received in response to a thread about King's Quest II where I said it wasn't ground breaking and was the weakest in the series, although I liked it anyway. That was literally my first post on Sierra Gamers FB page in about six months.

Yeah, I remember that! Like, wow, it's not like you told him his family was a bunch of scum-sucking pigs or something. You were debating the merits of KQ2!

There's another dude on there who's always just a combative and confrontational dick about everything too - and it gets real annoying.

And it's NOT Me or Lambonious this time!!!

I practically don't use any adventure games forums besides this one. I use a few RPG forums however which have threads about adventure games (as well as GOG forums), and I find them interesting and never really encountered any trolling in them (threads). May be I was lucky?-) I guess it depends a lot on the actual forum, but usually I'd expect RPGs and adventure games to attract people who value storytelling in games so it's kind of surprising that some adventure games forums have so many trolls.

Facebook? Nah, I don't even have an account there. Diaspora* is way more interesting.

@Klytos Hahah, that guy. He was really butthurt. Wierd part is, he created that poll, so it's like, you make a poll, but every other answer than your preferred one are wrong?

all that because of you opinion and a truth ?
I mean I think that also about kq2 does that make me an arsehole too?

kq1 opened a door, kq2 felt well, shrugged out, kq3 DONT DISS THAT! it got me into making potions and pissing my ma off as a kid haha
but really! you can like or dislike anything ye wants. Im shocked they allow that guy on the board

somewhat recently I DID get into a fight with a guy on steam.. bt can testify to the thread if he wants lol
this guy made a guide on how to hex edit cheat QFI for infinite money, but not just that he linked the actual 3rd party app in a steam guide, and said to use this app for all games.

Now I dont mind cheating, or hex editing, hell its fun.
As bt said from the dev side it was fine!
But on steams end, if you link apps that are cracks/nocds/cheat programs like SAM PICKER achievement getter/bot programs for WOW... etc,
its a ban-able offense.

I HAVE NO issue with a cheat being done, but to post the direct link and to tell all to use this on every game well, thats up to them to decide, and to link it well,
I told him he might as well just go hang himself or some such thing. he took that literally...(I was not banned)

So I THINK i was that.. "GUY" like the one in that thread you mention :(
Though if reported he would get the guide taken down for sure.

Funny story
I got a guy banned for calling me "retarded" 92 times in a thread post. I told the mod I WAS RETARDED.. MUHAHAH and its like using the homo word to us retards. He was and still is banned hehe

(I have Meniers disease :( , technically I am HELD BACK aka retarded.)
Idk haha I laughed more that steam believed me over just the word retarded,
not sure how sierra forums aren't modded better unless those mods are the people posting that dumb stuff

so ive done my share o stuff.. but wow
to say that about kq2 and your post if what you say is true.. nucking futs!

I remember that idiot. Then there are the fake accounts like "Goofstain" and all of the other 'stains that troll Sierra Gamers. Not sure why Rudy does not boot them. It is like dealing with a place overrun by teens hiding behind the anonymity of the internet who have learned no social graces.

I used to enjoy the-spoiler.com, but it eventually turned into a smelting pot for morally questionable posters. The last I knew was you can no longer post there, just browse the walkthroughs.

Used to be a gamer known as Armstrong who was evilly intolerable. His excuse was that his wife was logging in with his various accounts on other sites.
Lynda Carter, Wonder Woman, once sent me autographed photos that put me on cloud nine. The photos are on my living room wall.
