Legal prescription pain/opiod pills have done more damage than marijuana ever has.  That's all.

Bt

Totally agree, 100 percent.  I've seen a lot of chronic pain cancer patients have a very difficult time trying to get off of opiates.  And their pain is obviously very real...it's a tough balancing act, it really is.

The other thing is, although marijuana definitely has its downfalls, it too can be used in treating cancer pain where other methods fail.  So it's not an easy solution...just my delirious 2 cents at 2 am.   :)

Yeah, I'm not saying marijuana is some harmless, safety product - but as far as chemical intoxicants go, it's as "innocuous" as alcohol, if not less.  Personally, I don't use - but I know a lot of people who either do, or have.  Some for reasons as lame as "Listening to 'Dark Side of The Moon'" to a friend of mine who smoked it during her chemotherapy, and it helped her with the nausea and lack of appetite.

The standards of why something IS illegal to possess and imbibe ARE judged against other substances of a similar effect.  In the United States, the prohibition on marijuana has more to do with early 20th century business politics than public health concern.  People are going to want to (for lack of a better word) get fucked up.  And for some, marijuana is their preferred substance of mind alteration.  Like any substances, it has it's positive and negative uses - but I see no reason why it's illegal to possess and consume.  In fact, it'd be a great source of tax revenue for state governments, which would regulate it, and this could be put to good public use.  (Colorado, where it is legal, is having a massive economic boost because of this.)

Legalized drugs, smoking, alcohol, elicit content allowed on T.V. Sadly, it will never end and will continue escalating. Fortunately I have a built in sense of morality. I never really was brought up that way and it's weird that I have chosen to be the way I am.
Lynda Carter, Wonder Woman, once sent me autographed photos that put me on cloud nine. The photos are on my living room wall.

@nameless. True sadly. This country's morale base is going downhill.  However i enjoy violent movies, porn, alcohol and if ever legalized marijuana. (not a user as of now)  I am a consenting intelligent adult, with that said i should be able to enjoy the above things.  Kids and those under 21 should not be able to, however they will always get access to them by irresponsible adults. I did when i was a teenager and not for the better ment of my well being.  Shit had i listen to my folks 20 years ago i;d be in a much better place now, but i don;t regret what i have done. My errors of youth have taught me the right way to live- albeit the hard way. I am stubborn at times..... :) Chadly

We are who we are today because of the things we did in the past.

Not all drugs are addictive.  Marijuana certainly isn't, at least, not in the way those who have vilified it for more than half a century would like you to think it is.  It's definitely not as addictive as alcohol or tobacco.

Legal weed is coming across the US.  Oregon and DC just legalized it the other day in the election.  There may be more states that did that I haven't read about, too.

Legalization doesn't mean instantly and widely available.  Kids like jello, too, but you can't buy jello shots in stores.  Regulations will take care of the availability issues, at least as much as they do for alcohol and tobacco.

it failed in DC,  it was Alaska and oregon that made it legal  now 4 states,  but DC isnt one of em

as for drugs im with bt, prescription meds, like norcos etc, cause way more issues than pot
and now in cali some friggen lame law passed making it a minor crime to carry METH or NEEDLES in a car and be high on them  only 6 months max mostly a fine, no jail time
sigh
sickens me, esp in my area sacramento meth capital of cali

I stick to my coffee which isnt unknown to the forum :P that id say is addictive :P
pot nope
cigs .. mental addiction no real withdrawals just yea..
ive done every drug under the sun EXCEPT needles ICK, and well, as a teen I dont know wtf
I was an acid kid, and then I DID do meth for 1 year only. got to 98lbs at 6 foot 2.. almost died, bad bad drug
alcohol I cant drink much, Ill drink at a show or concert if I need to, its kinda part of promotion and touring
but each time I have a drink i feel, too old for it idk

The nicotine in cigs is extremely addictive. Go 24 hours without and you will have a massive headache, be irritable and feel like you want to kill something for about 3 days in my experience.  Its more addictive than heroin!!!!!!!!!!!

hope that was a joke .. heroin wise..
seriously

over 40+ years of study its a mental thing.. though nicotine does have minor physical dependency 90 ish % is mental for it.

trust me quitting cigs is one of the hardest things TO quit, but again, no physical dependency
and vs heroin!? urmm nooo
heroin is an opiate aka like NORCO .. those are BAD withdrawals, 100% physical

bottom line, if you smoke say 4 packs a day and quit, you wont die, u just feel terrible

if you take tons of pills all day, every day and quit.. you will die, same with heroin .. not rocket science there
but Ohhh i feel ya on cigs, again ive done every drug in the book,  and cigs is up there with stopping meth, and my benzos (benzos is the worst  imo even stevie nicks said this and she has done everything under the sun)
klonipin is what I take , the longest lasting benzo, 12 hour half life 24 total  give or take metabolism, and trust me, just 2 days after stopping my dose id die no joke, 6mg daily  (pretty high dose) its for my meniers disease symptoms
