Basically, your options are ebay or abandonware.  And you'll have to do some digging to find it via the latter route.  Good thing we don't have mongoloid mods who ban at the mere mention of piracy here.

(Sorry to veer back to my issue again)...but just wanted to say I found a great site at THE INTERWEBS AND STUFF where you can pay a very tiny one-time fee (well, it's for 30 days anyway), and they have HUNDREDS of old classic adventure games to download--that actually will run on newer systems!  That abandonware site & others like it usually do not end up being able to run on my computer.  So I'm finally gonna get to play both Sam n' Max AND replay some goodies that I've never been able to ever replay...Dagger of Amon Ra, Freddy Pharkas, Discworld, Sherlock Holmes, Ecoquest, Full Throttle...woo!!!!  I'm in heaven...as antsy as I've been for QFI to be completed, this will definitely help to tide me over.

Ok, rambling done.  It's just really cool.  Ha-- I am sounding so NOT cool.   ::)

I found dreamfall to be wordier than GK but that's just me. I recently tried playing Sam and Max hit the road. Is it just me or was that game particularly difficult?

Hey there Quest For GLory Fan (or anyone who knows)!  May I ask, how did you get ahold of the old Sam & Max game?  If it's not on GoG then I'm pretty much crap outta luck getting those really old games to work on my computer (even with SCUMM or DosBox, etc...)  But I was just curious if there was a way (or place) to play or download it that I wasn't thinking of...

Sam & Max is one of the FEW old classic adventure games that I never got around to playing and I'd LOVE to be able to try it out!

You've seen your sprite already??  Wow, awesome.  I'm jealous!  I have no doubt you guys have all been working your tails off.  I wish, as much as making & playing these kinds of games interests me, that I had the talent to do what you all do.  Not only am I a proud backer but also an enormous fan.  Keep up the great work.  I feel like I sometimes say these same things over & over again but I truly mean it.  Huge. Fan.

Thank you so much for the update!  Just makes me all the more excited.   :D

Finding your way into the crypt may be harder than you think...

Bt

I'd be more worried about making your way OUT of the crypt...

That is EXACTLY what I was going to say.  Ha!!

Super creepy yet beautiful drawing (if a crypt could ever be described as "beautiful"...)   ;)

I wanna know who/what is in the coffin!

Good luck Jen!  You seem extremely intelligent and I already know you're very talented, so I'm sure you don't need to worry a bit.  So I'll go ahead &  add a big "Congratulations!" in there as well.   Having school behind you is always a huge relief...:D

Aww, happy 35th birthday Chadly.  I just turned 35 too and it really bummed me out.  I'm starting to really feel older and it stinks.  Thank goodness for my funny husband & kids, who keep me laughing so I don't dwell on it too much...

Wow Chucklas, spinal surgery is some scary stuff...I need it myself and I'm terrified.  I'm trying to wait as long as possible...  Glad everything went well for you!

On the flipside though...hey, we're alive and that's pretty awesome.  I try not to take one day of my life for granted b/c 35 or not, I only get one of these things...

Cheers!   8)

« on: April 29, 2013, 05:22:04 PM »
Hmm...for me would have to be Leisure Suit Larry 7 (Love for Sail).  It takes a lot for a LSL game to bore me, and I was boooooored on that dang ship.  I could have cared less about the Juggs, the Cybersex 2000 (or whatever), and even prank-calling the front desk guy was lame.  Ha, I'm not bitter at all... ;D

Also probably any Gabriel Knight game after the first one.  I wanted the gameplay and graphics to be like the first one, and I was really disappointed...

You're a very eloquent writer Steve...beautiful words.  Today was a sad day but we can't give these cowards the power to make us afraid to live life.  We're above that and above them.

Thanks guys!  Glad you all like it so far, we wanted something suitably retro for the box, and I think we managed it in the end :)  I only just realised that I didn't have access to this part of the forum, woops, so just getting caught up on what I've missed!

I just realized today that I didn't have access to these boards either, haha.  Wow, the cover looks amazing, very sexy too!  All the dudes on here are drooling...  ;)  I've said it before but I'll say it again...you are extremely talented Jenny!

Wow, big map!  Looks cool, I only wish I could see it better...reminds me of that big map of the Overworld on Legend of Zelda somehow. :D  (good times...)

Hi

Itīs said in the last update that "Backers can visit our forums, and get a sneak peak the the Artwork for the KS Exclusive Big Box!".
Great!
But where can I find it?
Thanks!

Right now, it's in the exclusive Lonarian Guard backers forum - for backers who have pledged over $100.  It'll be moved to the regular backers forum after it's exclusive week long run there.

Bt

Hey there, sorry to be slightly off-topic but how do you know if you're part of the "Lonarian Guard" forum?  I have a "Backer's Forum" folder on here but I don't see the other...

Wow.  Speechless but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.  It's kinda disheartening to see them still describe this as an action-oriented gaming industry, just for the reason that I'd like to think in my (maybe disillusioned) mind that adventure games are making a big comeback...or at least gaining in popularity again.   :-\

But I agree--I'm hoping it will allow for easier access to either remake or add to some their classics like Monkey Island or Grimm Fandango without the threat of lawsuits.  Or am I jumping the gun on that?  I mean, there are tons of Maniac Mansion knock-offs after all, and no one's gotten in trouble...?

Quest for Infamy / Re: Answer to the Evil vs Rogue Debate
« on: March 26, 2013, 02:13:51 PM »
I was wandering around the internet today and came across this. Written by Raymond E Feist, who in my opinion is the single greatest fantasy writer since Tolkien. This, more than anything anyone at IQ has said, explains Mr Roehm.

"I have no "evil" characters in my novels.  I have characters who do evil things, but that's not the same thing.  Everyone is the hero of his/her own life story."

You're welcome.

Well said!  Nothing I can add to that.   :D

Wow...what!!  That's awesome.  So amazing to see many of the old talented Sierra guys (and girls) making games again!  Even though Police Quest probably wasn't my all-time "favorite" series, I still did love it and owned the whole collection.  I'd love to see Jim Walls create another game!

This whole Kickstarter thing has really been something hasn't it?  Between that and gog.com and all the awesome indie game developers in the last few years, I have been in hog heaven.  I really thought old-school adventure games were as good as dead...
