Banter and Chit-Chat! / Re: This is why I can't stand Richard Cobbett
« on: September 12, 2014, 12:01:47 PM »
If you feel there are areas to improve in the future, you can do it without acting like we dug up your ancestors corpse and skull-fucked it in front of your parents while singing "Send in the Clowns".

Well now, THAT was quite the visual...ha!  :o :P

I 100% agree with you guys though, it REALLY pisses me off when a reviewer states that a game is "not to be missed", yet spends the majority of the article just bashing anything & everything about the game.  Uhh...constructive criticism, anyone??

Nope.

There are several steps.

Kaldire figured out the first one.

Beavis could help you with one.

John Conner could another.

There are many Bridges to cross and minutes to wait for the last.

First thing that comes to my mind with the Beavis reference is, "Fire! Fire! Fire!!!"
Didn't he always used to say that?

THAT was pure awesomeness.  James, you must have intestines of steel man...

Bt--first marmite, veggiemite, & now exploding hot sauce??  Is there anything else we can make you try?   :o

Seriously, this is more fun than trying to answer the questions to play Leisure Suit Larry as a 10 year old.  I had no chance back then.

Haha, I did the same thing.  First game I ever tried to play, and I remember it took me SO many times to get through those damn questions but it was worth it.  I'm sure my 12-year-old face looked like, " :o " once I was able to get into the game.  I was a sheltered kid.

Anyway, I love this thread too...you guys are determined!

Quest for Infamy / Re: Bug testing
« on: August 06, 2014, 12:59:55 PM »

As for the Telltale conversation, well my opinion is pretty much the same as Lambs. I think their early stuff is great but I think their interpretation of what is an adventure game is becoming in my opinion just an interactive movie. I don't have a problem with linear storylines, not everything has to be as complicated as QFI, but I think what defines an adventure game is not JUST the story but the puzzles as well. Well designed puzzles advance the story, badly designed puzzles just feel like they're there so there's a puzzle for the player to solve.

Totally agree with that, 110%.  Playing a lot of the TellTale games makes me feel like I'm sitting there watching Saturday morning cartoons.  (Don't smack me, Kaldire... :P )

Testing isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Nearly everyone thinks that they can be a tester, but it really requires a good eye for detail, and huge dedication, and sometimes going through the pain of rechecking certain things to find out what exactly triggers a certain bug. Sometimes you might get some good feedback regarding gameplay from someone that just wants to play the game early, but usually they only end up playing a bit of the start then giving up.

I'm one of those guilty of not testing as much as I wanted.  I did report some errors, but this was the first time I've ever tested a game, and it was WAY more complex than I ever could imagine.  Which is an awesome thing--but unfortunately, life & work just got in the way for me, so I wasn't too much help with that in the end I'm afraid.  (Excuses, excuses... :PBut I definitely didn't choose to be a beta tester just to get my hands on the game...this is a project I've really believed in from the start and I have HUGE amount of respect for everyone who worked so tirelessly on it.  So my main contribution probably wasn't so much with the testing, but I wanted to help in any way possible.

I gotcha.  Just wasn't sure if you knew it was there.   ;) :P

I really liked the little narrator guy, btw...he was a cute little thing.

Great review, I enjoyed that a lot!  Can I just make one teeny nit-picky comment though?  At the beginning, the narrator says the game is made by Infamous Adventures, but it should be Infamous Quests.  (0:41 in the video.)  Told ya it was nit-picky...feel free to ignore this all you want, I just happened to notice that.  ;)  I think everywhere else it was correct though.

Loved that it was a video review!  More fun that way.  :)

Quest for Infamy / Re: Shouldn't map usage pass time?
« on: July 31, 2014, 11:35:34 AM »
I see the map as simply an awesome convenience for people who dislike back-tracking and "needless" walking around, but the great thing is that no one forces you to use the map of course.   Kind of like the "cheat" aspect of the combat system in the game, you don't HAVE to use it, but it's there for those who can't stand action sequences in adventure games.

I think it's just really cool that they've tried to appease the masses (although of course, you obviously can't please everyone...).   ;)

Aww, I don't think it's meant to insult anyone by calling one of the females in the game a bimbo.  To me, it's not offensive, just one of the many little quirks of the game.  It's supposed to be silly and nonsensical at times.   ;)

That's just my opinion though.  I'm a hard one to offend.

...maybe that's just me though, I usually try to avoid physical conflict.   :P

As in altogether or as in not being evil?

Ha--actually I guess in real life too.  I'm a total pacifist.  I hate violence of any kind, I can't even watch a UFC fight on TV.  Part of it probably comes with being a nurse too... ;)

BUT--apparently I have no qualms about stealing, breaking & entering, or sneaking/spying in games?...so I'm scared to know what THAT says about me...   :P

Ok, ok, I concede.  Maybe I took it a little too literally.  Point taken!  It really is a beautiful game; maybe saying that it "took away from the game" experience was a little harsh of me...

*takes underpants out of a wad*   :P

Quest for Infamy / Re: Easter eggs, etc.
« on: July 27, 2014, 02:24:47 AM »
I don't think this constitutes an "Easter egg" really, but did anyone else crack up in the 99 Acres Woods when you examined one of the big rocks?  The one that the Narrator says (sings), "I am a rock.  I am an iiiiiiiiiisland..."

I just found that tonight and I can't quit clicking on it and stupidly laughing.  I must be getting old to even have recognized that song.

I felt the same way playing Heroine's Quest...I honestly always love playing the rogue best, and so I thought it took away from the game a little.  Annoyed the crap out of me actually.

Well, it did work for me too, thankfully.  Although I didn't have that problem while playing the other classes, and all the other times I played I visited the bank early on too.  Oh well--I'm just glad there was a way around it!
