Quest for Infamy / Re: DLC/FUTURE UPDATES
« on: July 13, 2014, 09:14:33 PM »
One thing I would like is a chest where you can keep all your items at the game.

Item Management can be kind of, uh.... tricky, later in the game.

It'd also be nice if there was a way to sell off old weapon/armor in the game.

The Thief can steal a Best Sword, but he will still wind up unable to get rid of his old blade or do anything. (non-Thieves will have it transformed by Mr. Magic)

It'd also be nice to have dialogue for all the stolen items, and have a separate inventory menu in the loot bag where you can check out all the swag you got.  It'd also be cool to get individual responses for each stolen item from the fence, that was always something fun in the QFG games. (Master Thief really loved pearls it seems, heh :P )

Quest for Infamy / Re: Re: Thoughts on a future sequel

PS4 dev kits cost $2500, and Sony can (and certainly does!) sometimes say "no, you're game isn't going up, sorry".  Often, that decision happens after you've gone and ported it.

XBox One dev kits are very hard to come by, as each developer must apply for their indie program ("ID@XBox").  The cost is not public (supposed to be "free", but who knows).  Retail XB1's will supposedly be able to function as dev kits in the future, but not yet, and nobody knows for sure when.  MS sometimes rejects a game after porting is done.

Those are just to get your foot in the door.  Beyond that is the technical side, which is making the software work on each console's rig, and that's a lot of hard work by people smarter than me.  I don't know who else would be working on engine-level porting on the team, so that would mean many months of work and hundreds of pots of coffee on my side.  IQ programmers Klytos & Chucklas are likely smarter than me, so maybe they could help, but more likely their skills are best used for the next game, or the game after that, or the game after that...

It's pretty exciting and worth consideration, but kind of feels like an impossible mountain to climb.

In short, we'd love to be in those markets, even though it could cost the team thousands of dollars, months of hard work taken from future projects, and possibly my sanity.  Then, at the end of all that, Sony/MS could well find something objectionable in the game (pissing on corpses?) and give us the finger anyway  :(

BTW, the offer you're making?  That's called "publishing", and the games industry is badly in need of really cool micro-publishers for indie games, BTW.  I sincerely hope you see a windfall of cash and bravely go into that business...

I hope so too!  Hopefully my book will sell well when it's done and I can be independently wealthy. :)

I kinda liked coming to here for advice more than reading some FAQ on Gamefaqs.

Some games are better without FAQs, imo.

Really?  I was just trying to get on his good side and avoid attracting his attention too negatively.  Plus Roehm did promise him a cigar.

I'm so badass I don't even realize I'm being badass when I'm polite.  8)

One last thing.... can I enter into the forest across the tree bridge in the south forest at any point in the game?  Or do I need to be playing as a Wizard or Brigand?

Quest for Infamy / DLC/FUTURE UPDATES
« on: July 13, 2014, 06:55:06 PM »
So it mentioned that the game was Version 1.01.

Can we expect to see much more added to this game in future updates or a possible DLC expansion pack? (please say yes)

Anyway, this is enough "BadToTheBones" topics for now.  Quite an exciting game and it's good to see the Adventure Point N'Click Genre got a nice release.  Ya'll should send the Coles this game as a gift on Steam, and maybe Elsa could get a copy too. ;)

Ah okay.  I figured I'd be a "nice guy" for my first playthrough (as nice as a serial thief can be) and be a complete basturd my second time through.

I'm going to be a Brigand next and murder everyone and everything in my path!  8)

Quest for Infamy / I WON THE GAME!
« on: July 13, 2014, 04:05:15 PM »
Playing as a Rogue, I won the game!

(spoilers within, beware all ye who enter)

This was AWESOME!

I love the ending and how he becomes something of an accidental hero.

THE GOOD

Lots of fun puzzles to solve and a great cast.  And HOLY CRAP THIS GAME IS FREAKISHLY HUGE!!!

The environments are well-done as well and the game seems to have a lot of charm and humor to it.

Definitely a worthy successor the Sierra of Olde.

THE BAD

The game has some freezing issues.  Also, there are some annoying bugs (not being able to give the gnoll tobacco early on in the game, the necklace refusing to work in the right area until you've gotten a letter or something) and the hint about "kept his secret in stone" possibly referring to the fireplace at the mansion which makes you think it was referring to a crest and not something else.  The puzzles associated with the green bikini babe are kind of annoying.  I also thought robbing the bank was a bit too easy.

Also, combat kinda gets easy once you learn how to spam the block command, and the "Bladearang", while awesome, is pretty overpowered.

I also kinda miss having limited stamina.

I really loved the game though, just cause the nitpicking section is larger don't get the impression I didn't.  Anyway, I give it a 9/10.  I really hope this sells a ton of copies and gets a nice sequel. :) How many do you need to sell to make one?  When will the sequel come out?  I just hope the sequel ups the combat significantly, gives more challenge/variety there, and gives you more stuff you can buy.  I know you guys seem to hate it, but QFG 2 VGA still is the best combat system of these games so far, imo.  It offers huge challenge options and an enormous list of things you can do to appeal to experts/hardcore players, and a difficult slider for the wee children who don't like those things. :)

Four questions-

Is there anything I can do with the Kraken Lung?

How do I cross the chasm to go fight the Necromancer?

Are there any consequences to robbing the bank?  I was afraid to rob it (despite the loot) not just cause it'd make things more boring but also because I thought it'd come back to bite me at some point.

What's the pin number to get inside of the bank vault?

Nm, I found it.  Oi, these vague puzzles....

Game gets real confusing starting when that green bikini bitch starts forcing you to go crest/key-hunting.  I'm almost in the crypt though.

Quest for Infamy / Re: Gnoll question
« on: July 13, 2014, 01:44:06 AM »
I did, aye.

The ideal solution for the gnoll would be to be able to give him tobacco early, but for him to say something like.

"If you ever need a favor that only I can grant, and not any of my treasure, I'll be happy to help you."

Okay, I think I'm good to go!

I kinda ignored the old gypsy fart's "stone" remark earlier since I thought it was a reference to where the first crest piece is, but I now understand what he's talking about. :)

You guys are cryptic/vague with your answers, lol.  Nintendo Hotline used to be the same sometimes. :)

Okay, that makes sense.  I'm actually looking for that 2nd crest piece right now, stuck on the jelly cube. (I think I can figure that one out on my own, but I'm not above the QFI hintline if I absolutely have to.)

I still think puzzle's still pretty confusing though.

Maybe if it said something like, "You get the impression that this might be a good idea but this isn't the right time for this," would be nice to implement in a future patch. :)

Quest for Infamy / Hardcore Style- anyone else in?
« on: July 11, 2014, 12:57:58 AM »
"Hey guys, defeat the Evil Demon Queen thingey by putting the rat's tail into the flaming stone and reciting the dagger chant and you win!"

Oh yeah?

Screw all you "hints" people, I'm playing this hardcore-style!

Oh yeah- the way it was done BEFORE the internet!

Internet ruined adventure gaming!  All the answers are now right before you at the click of a button on the heavy-mouth-breathing of some neckbeard's youtube commentary video.

Well not me!  I'm sick of not exploring adventure games as much and always getting hints cause of the internet!  I remember when you had to go to a store and buy an expensive hintbook, or call a number your parents bitched about everytime because it was 1-900 in order to get hints!

Why buy a damned puzzle just to look up the answers to it?

So... is anyone else in for Hardcore Style?  I know I am!  Post here if you are and if you do play this game, post about it when you win it. (or at least tell us how far you got before chickening out and listening to some neckbeard on YT with heavy breathing explain the answers to whatever puzzle ultimately got you)

Thank you, it works now!

So... I clicked the bottom resolution.  Is the game playable on more than 1 resolution?

And, if so, is there a "best" resolution which I should be aiming for?

Btw, I've always thought that QFG 4.5 song could be improved upon if they were to use a vuvuzuela-rendition of the theme song.
