Huh, I reckon the voice actor for Mills was Aussie based on the expression like "cobber"...

yeah, the head chopping happens with the sword.  I think I tried that on my second game, and based on the resultant death, never bothered to try the hand until recently.

well as for the book
as its been said, if you did steps 1-3 correctly, the book  those who know will....
then that answer if correct WILL pop up another book page with another puzzle..
but if you enter even 1 wrong answer in the book RELOAD
or it will end the hunt
Hey Kaldire,

I entered the correct answer for the "Those who knows will", but I was wondering if I need to solve the second book puzzle (the icons) correctly.  Otherwise, I suppose it's just a matter of marking XX (what ever that means).

As for the side quest issue, I haven't seen anyone else post on this issue (I've searched brigand-related posts on this forum, but didn't see anyone else mention this problem).  It sucks 'cause now I gotta make money in order to get Roehm stuff - the only easy score of cash is breaking into the mausoleum, shooting arrows and working on the docks (until act 2).  In fact, that's how I discovered the hand solution on the gnoll I had mentioned in a different post - I didn't have enough bly to buy the Sir Davos blend!

hey Kaldire,

yeah, I meant using the hand icon twice.  The pipe & wacky tabacky is the obvious solution for all classes, so is the scare spell for the sorcerer.

I can't remember the exact wording of the message you get the first time you use the hand, but it went something like "I don't know if that action is something to really want to do, but hey that's the beauty of this game".  The gnoll's response is pretty surprising as well.

I thought I'd start a thread about some aha! moments in the game people might have had after logging in a few games and classes in.

Here's one I had recently found out: there are three ways of getting the family crest piece from the gnoll!
Spoiler (hover to show)
have been discussed extensively in the forum and described the walkthrough, however,

Quest for Infamy / Brigand side quests not triggering
« on: September 13, 2014, 12:36:07 AM »
Hi folks,

I'm working through my "find Bt fight" game, and I chose the brigand path.  This is the second time I've gone down this character type, but for some reason I can't get the side quests to initate!  Kurdt initially talks to me about some work in the future after I enter the lair the first time; however, whenever I talk to him again in the lair at a later time, the conversation stream is the banter he'd use in the bar (the topics relate to the folks in Volksville and the surrounding area) only.

Has anyone had encountered this problem before?  Also, looking for some hints on finding Bt (I'm looking at you Kaldire!!!) - at least throw in some hints!!!  do I need to answer the follow up question correctly after typing in the secret phrase in book?  or is there no real consequence in how you answer those questions?

Thanks all!

Hmmm Nameless, I was able to get the "message" after typing the correct phrase in the book.

The steps I took were:
1- select Prelude to Infamy at the start of game and let the scene progress uninterrupted
2 - enter the ATM pin in Act 1;
3- flamed the moonshiner by clicking sword icon on him (I think there are two ways of accomplishing this, but I did it by using the sword icon immediately on the moonshiner without talking to him at all);
4- enter correct phrase in book (and get the confirmation message and follow up question)

now if only I could figure out step5!!!!  It doesn't help that work and life seems to get in the way of completing this side quest.

Quest for Infamy / Error: random fight in dwarven mines

Hi QFI team,

I just wanted to log in an error I've recently encountered when wandering in the dwarven mines.

When I do a pre-emptive attack on an undead monster, the game crashes and I get the following error message:

RandomCombat.asc Line 717
from GlobalScript.asc Line 6886
Error:  Character.loop: invalid loop number for this view.

This only happens when I try to click the sword icon on this type of monster - all of the other types go right into combat without any problems.

As for the last.... stay hydrated before you pursue the last part.  Be patient; XX patient. Mark the spot.

Sit back. Enjoy the show.

Bt

Be patient...or eXtra eXtra patient?  As in "extra extra, read all about it" (aka the news)?

Is burning the moonshiner only possible if you've done all the previous steps?

Hey Miriya,

You don't have to do the steps to find Bt in order to burn the moonshiner - just click the sword icon on him when you find him in Act 2.

I only stumbled on this when I was restoring some old save games I had (on runs I had not done step 1 & 2).

when does Alice become 10 feet tall?  when she nibbles on the cake that says EAT ME...

I was also thinking of the XX =20 but Bt's hint points back to the graveyard(s)...I'm wondering if XX is an allusion to killing someone, since a cartoonist would draw X's for eyes on someone who is dead....   X_X

Step 1 - If this were a test, I'd say correct.

Part 2, as you wrote, the "credit" ties in with step 1, comprende?

Step 3... numbers. Gadgets. Find a gadget with numbers. Any number, pick a number, Pick Douglas Adams favorite number! It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, but if you play the game.

Step 4 - Fire? Where there's fire there maybe lightning. White lightning.

Step 5 - Remember - EVERYONE ends up here.. or near here, or in here. Somethings have eternity to wait, but you don't. XX marks the spot. Tie it together.

Bt

Like Garr, I took a short break from QI and sure enough all I've been thinking about this mystical Bt fight

I think I've figured out step 3 & 4 - can Bt confirm?

Step 3:  try punching in some digits in the ATM machine.  There are only two gadgets in the game that uses numbers, the safe in the house near the bank and the ATM.  Since this challenge is open to all classes and the brigand cannot break into homes, that only leaves the ATM.

Step 4: involves the Moonshiner.  Moonshine is also known as white lightening, a description that is also used in game when you use the look icon at the still.  This must be the step that can only be done in Act 2 (as eluded in a different post Bt replied to).  I only recently found that you can kill him by burning (click sword icon on him) as opposed to using the usual tactics when you use the talk icon on him.

Now it's just a matter of step 5...I'm wondering if it's the main plaza of Tyr (EVERYONE shows up there at the end except Swart, who shows up NEAR there to pick up Roehm), just can't imagine what the XX is about...

Actually I did use my map instead of walking out after the Killingtons conversation - did you still want a copy of my save game anyways?

Even though I got the medallion from my "second" meeting with Kayanna, the game still did not allow me to progress with finding the crest parts.

Quest for Infamy / Re: Easter eggs, etc.

Not sure if this mention belongs in the Easter Egg thread, but the spiel Prospero says in the sorcerer initiation when you match the tower cards is a reference to Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

"Do you pursue the man in black to its end?"
