Unless you have serious storage limitations, saving FLACs shouldn't be that hard. They are usually around half the size of the raw WAVs (in the best case). In general I'm surprised though that many major music stores still don't offer it. Some do (Bandcamp, Cdbaby etc.), but for some reason Amazon doesn't. I guess they feel people still like buying physical CDs :)

My own opinion on why they don't sell FLACs is because noone can tell the difference between MP3 320s and we're still living in an age where data-plans and storage are an issue. I'm an audiophile by trade but I see through a lot of the BS when it comes to hi-fidelity-audio. Neil Young's crazy toblerone system for one is one such system. What would be better would be to introduce an MP3 system with a valve/tube pre-amp and AudioTechnica headphones included. THAT'S what you need to have a good audio experience. If anyone thinks listening to FLACs on an iPhone through Beats by Dre is a real audio experience, they've been thoroughly fleeced.

Yeah, I look at selling FLACs as simply functional compressed and pure digital replacement of CDs (which are raw lossless audio). I can encode from CD to any codec I wish with transparency, same with FLAC. And encoding from MP3 as was already mentioned above isn't equivalent. So the fact that they sound the same is only part of the picture. I agree that only a minority would deal with reencoding anyway, but I look at this from the point of view of not reducing functionality.

Those new pseudo formats are a fake (according to this article: https://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/demo/neil-young.html ). I'm not an expert in it really, but I trust Monty knows what he is saying.

Although there was talk of having a super-limited-edition-vinyl pressing of a few select tracks...

I, for one, am waiting for the super-duper EXTREMELY limited highly-sought-after collector's special edition in the following formats:

1. Eight-Track tape
2. Reel-to-reel tape
3. 78 rpm Victrola record
4. Wax cylinders (one for each song)

Sickfiction - take your pick.

(I've got my finger crossed for the Wax Cylinders, personally...)

Just got the OST. I noticed that some tracks aren't listed in the m3u file:

Code: [Select]
Beer Beer Beer.mp3
Choose your PAth.mp3
Sneaking.mp3
Steve's Archery tune.mp3
The Beer Song.mp3

Are they supposed to be 95-99 ones?

Also, The Beer Song.mp3 is identical to Beer Beer Beer.mp3.

And thanks for the music of course!

Good read (while it's mostly about hardware scams, it mentions the ultrasonic frequencies scam too).

oooo waaax!!!

and yesss
ty for the info!

if the original audio is as you say, yep flac wont be much if any diff

but that lp sounds amazing (if only it were trueee) hehe

done and done, just got myself the soundtrack, muhahah

as for flac vs mp3, since its at the higher end bit rate, not much diff in say, an audio editor,
most mp3's that arent lossless or higher bit rate have the highs and lows chopped off
but I think im telling ya redundant info there lol

I used to remaster old cassette tapes in full wav, and back then mp3 didnt have the many compression methods and indeed ruined audio for the most part when trying to edit them for wav on cd, or filter out live noise if its a live show etc,

but in this case hoooah

again I say done and done, nice sound and even in my audio editor it looks nice, so doesnt look chopped at the tops and bottoms as most compressed mp3

233mb rar? 271 total, that would be odd if that wouldnt fit on 2 cds
or double sided wax,

some of these tracks are wicked (most are) just saying a huge thanks!

I meant Audio CD not data, we're restricted to around 70mins of audio per CD, and I think the soundtrack clocks in at around 2 hours give or take. It would fit on 2 CDs...and 5 Double sided Vinyls ;)

Heh, yeah, I looked into getting a limited edition Vinyl Soundtrack for Quest For Infamy pressed... it can be done, but I don't think the interest level would support the cost required for the endeavor! Still, it would be cool to hear the QFI soundtrack on a vinyl record.

hmm @bt  maybe ask peoples who would wants it,
yea I know my vinyl too
haha

but most record labels these days press wax with albums, cool eh eh..
of course that said you arent a record label,
all I could say is .. kickstart for vinyl? lol

@sickfiction
I feel , dumb for being an audio wiz saying that!!
and here is a worse statement or joke

"its not the file size that matters its also the length!"
hehe

oh and epitaph has a neat format for their newer vinyl, offering almost 90 min on total, about 42 min per side
and neat colors but this is at a lower variable rate,
and I know is'a gots a bob dylan album somewhere thats like 40 min a side! give or take

bad religion made this about 2010-2011, sold it pretty cheap too
http://www.epitaph.com/artists/album/645/30_Years_LP_Box_Set#albdesc

it had all but 2 albums of theirs in that sucker, but being indie/punk none really run over 45 total :P nice set
I didnt get that one, as I had all the original vinyls but id love just the box to hold mine in shrug

If anyone thinks listening to FLACs on an iPhone through Beats by Dre is a real audio experience, they've been thoroughly fleeced.

well again having taken thousands of shows live ones , esp live recordings, if those are compressed to mp3 anything, doesnt matter how high the bitrate is,  its almost impossible to edit in an audio editor, as again mp3s even the most high bitrates chop the highs and lows off and smush it down a bit,
can one tell the diff in the audio, nope, not without a super hearing power, or some special 30000$ headset or soundsystem, but even then,
the only reason for lossless for me is editing,
and then.. mainly LIVE audio, as you can reduce crowd noise, raise the lead singers voice, or guitars if they are low,
on mp3s once compressed you cant do this very well if at all

but looking at the files from the OST in my nice audio progies, they look really nice, i mean there are nice jagged peaks and lows, means that not much .. if anything was cut during the reduction to mp3.

"oh yes its a' very niceaaa'!"

"hehhe I told him we already got one!"

the above 2 quotes are holy grail quotes :)
