I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I found the lake and now I can't find it again. Am I missing something? As in it needs to be a certain time? Also, any hints as to cross the "bad" area would be appreciated!

You can find a map in the camp area in the mine

Yep, have that but for some reason when I go to where the lake is it's not there. I somehow managed to get there once and have never been able to again

It's worth noting that the map of the mines is a "rough" map.  It's meant to give you a general idea of the direction to go so that you can find the various areas more easily, but it's not as precise as actually hand-mapping the maze out screen by screen.


My advice for finding the lake is

Spoiler (hover to show)

to just always head north and west whenever you can.  If you hit a dead end going north, go back the way you came until you can go west again, then go north again at the first new opportunity.  You should find it eventually.  It's basically at the furthest northwestern point in the mines.
