IQ Chat / Dwarf cave is awesome
« on: July 19, 2014, 03:46:17 PM »
It's really a great place to level up your skills and acquire some gold in the process.  Huge number of enemies to fight in it.

Also, it's especially good if one's trying to RP as a "goody-two shoes" character who doesn't Brigand or steal from the innocent.

I was fussing earlier the game was too easy but, trying to go through here with low-level equipment does offer a nice bit of challenge. :)

Quest for Infamy / How to Max Infamy
« on: July 19, 2014, 01:47:50 PM »
So what's the highest possible infamy score?  Nobody seems to know for certain, so I thought this might come in handy.  I'll try to keep this somewhat spoiler-free but all who haven't won the game should try to avoid this topic if they can.

Post here for the Infamy-gaining options that are available.

(BRIGAND-ONLY) 1. Do the first Brigand mission.  50 Infamy points.

(ROGUE-ONLY) 1. Break and enter into all the houses in the game.  15 Infamy points.

(ALL)- 1. Bust open the outhouse in the game two times.  5 Infamy points.

(ALL)- 2. Be a complete bastard to Jan on Day 1.  10 Infamy points.

(ALL)- 2. Or be a slightly jerkish bastard to Jan on Day 1.  5 Infamy points.

(ALL)- 3. Defeat the monster in the South Forest Dungeon.  15 Infamy points.

(MAGE-ONLY?)- 1. Engage in some vandalism for a spell component.  20 Infamy points.

Banter and Chit-Chat! / High Infamy score
« on: July 19, 2014, 01:43:46 PM »
Can someone give any examples of what you can do with a high Infamy score?

I'm playing as an Infamous Brigand but, so far, I haven't had any new conversation options pop up. (which is what I've heard is what happens when your Infamy gets high enough)

Quest for Infamy / Did I discover a new bug?
« on: July 19, 2014, 01:42:27 PM »
I've noticed that if you use the grappling hook on the Tyr Balcony that your Climbing and Thieving skill both increase, even as a non-Rogue.

I assume if I got enough Thieving I'd be able to Pickpocket certain people, like the QFG Hero at the sea bar.

Anyway, is this deliberate or just an oversight?

Quest for Infamy / Help with last spell
« on: July 19, 2014, 03:03:04 AM »
Geeze, you have some sadistic choices in the game.  I was hoping to smack the owl with a crowbar or dagger, not murder some innocent tree unnecessarily in the process!

Anyway, I have one last spell I need- "Windstorm."  Prospero as usual is being deliberately vague, mumbling something abut "Angel Wings" in the "Real" realm.  I already gave him an owl wing for something else, and I can't interact with the angel statue in the town cemetery.

Sigh.... almost completed my spell book though! :)

Quest for Infamy / Bear Question

Is there any way for a non-Brigand to get past that bear at the Brigand's hideout?  Do I just need to upgrade my stealth or something? (is about to try and feed it a fish)

I'm playing as a goody-two-shoes Mage who's not fond of doing anything too bad, and I wanted to go east of there into the forest so i could approach the hunters from behind them and kill one of them.

Rayford mentions them as a nuisance to the town, along with the Brigands, so they seem pretty evil.  Plus they barricade the entrance to the forest and beat up and rob anyone that tries to pass them.  I'd like to avoid hiring "entertainment" for them if I can as I do not like them at all.

Quest for Infamy / Spell component question
« on: July 18, 2014, 10:17:49 PM »
How exactly do I gnab one of the pigeons in Tyr for that Cloud spell?

I got a net from Brattle but it didn't do anything when I tried to use it on them.

Do I need to upgrade my stealth to grab one of those guys?

Quest for Infamy / Bug on Day 2 Tyr Thief Entrance
« on: July 18, 2014, 02:56:43 AM »
Okay, so on Day 2 I decided to go sneak into Tyr.  I figured I'd go the back route- climb down the cliff and then pick open the lock to the door, to see what happens.

I did just that and... it acts just as normal!  Even when you leave out the front door, the gate appears locked and you get a lecture about not being able to get in due to blahblahissues I forgot what she said.

I'm getting pretty good at this!  This reminds me of how fastidious I can be with adventure games.

Try using the Baba Yaga plant on yourself before she's told you to go get it in QFG 1 and you'll see what I mean. ;)  Definite bug there. :)

Quest for Infamy / Brigand bug
« on: July 18, 2014, 01:42:19 AM »
I was on the road north of Tyr.  Anyway a Rukiti came after me and I was low on health so I ran.

After that, the Rukiti was dead on the screen and I was able to loot him.

Is that a normal occurence as a brigand?

Also, is there anything I can do with the special attack icon? (the area where Thieves keep their "Bladearang")

Also, will I get to do anymore Jobs with the Brigands or was that first one it?  (kind of like how the thieves offer one quest, not counting the numerous side-jobs you can do)

Quest for Infamy / Minor bug with Rayford on Day 3
« on: July 17, 2014, 11:32:46 PM »
It mentions on day 3 that Rayford wants to see you and "best not to keep him waiting, he's a bastard that gets easily annoyed."

Being as I'm an Asshole in this quest, I decided to wait a full day and see him.  He mentions the "fight with Gorth yesterday" although that was two days ago.  I was hoping to score some Infamy points by annoying him, or get a death sequence by having him kill me for disrespecting him.  Ah well.

A simple solution would be to auto-set Roehm meeting up with Rayford, or add in a reaction from him if you keep him waiting.

(Playing through the second time I'm experimenting with stuff I didn't do the first time through.)

Quest for Infamy / Starting up a second quest
« on: July 17, 2014, 07:56:32 PM »
So my first quest was as a "Low-Profile Rogue" a nice man (with exception to his fanatical kleptomania) who deliberately attempted to maintain a low Infamy level so as to keep as much attention off of him as possible and appear respectable.  He even scored the "Never Mess with a Fat Man" Achievement.

THIS time I'm going to be playing a Pure-Evil Brigand, a bully who kills everything in his path and wants everyone to know how scary and badass he is!  I just killed the apple picker guy to steal his apple and gnab 15 infamy points, lol.

Quest for Infamy / Buying unique items (minor bug?)
« on: July 17, 2014, 01:49:40 AM »
The jeweled dagger and chain armor are examples of two unique items (from the descriptions) that, even after you buy, are still available for purchase.

While the game won't let you buy more than one of these items, shouldn't they disappear afterwards due to their unique status?  Or should it be assumed the smith found more than one dagger and built more than one armor for the king?

IQ Chat / Quest for Infamy review
« on: July 16, 2014, 02:11:07 PM »
I was interested in writing a review for this game up on Gamefaqs.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/763459-quest-for-infamy

I was wondering, has anyone ever done a review there before or know how this process goes?

Also, are there any other good places where I could put up a review?

Quest for Infamy / Steam question
« on: July 16, 2014, 02:07:17 PM »
Okay, so I told my brother about this game.  He's interested in playing but said, "I'll wait til it's on a Steam sale, I only buy Steam games when they're on sale."

A few questions...

1. Do you guys make more money or less money when the game sells when it's on sale?

2. Will this game ever have a Steam sale?  If so, how long would it be?  Probably not for a good while I'd reckon since it just came out.

Thanks! :)

Also, is there any way to track sales?  I really like this game a lot and I'll try to tell as many people as I can about it.  I'll get it for my brother for XMas since he's a cheap bastard anyway when it comes to Steam games. (then again, he's got dozens he's barely touched- but he does work in the industry so his job draws him across tons of differing games)

Quest for Infamy / The Magic Bong
« on: July 16, 2014, 01:24:49 PM »
A staff member mentioned that it makes somebody high just by looking at it.  However, I noted a plothole in that if that were true then the gnoll wouldn't be in such a bad mode.

However....

What if the Magic Bong runs on magic?!  It'd make sense that, however the gnoll acquired it, that eventually it'd run out of magic.  Ordinarily a mage could just zap some spell points into it to recharge it but the gnoll doesn't know any magic.  Thus he's stuck with an incredible device that he's incapable of using.
