Starting around day 4 or 5 the red banner at the top no longer shows when I've added experience or an item.

I have something to put the brain in, but when I try to cut it out I'm still getting told I need something to put it in. Is there a certain way to do the surgery?

When I'm in the mines at the chasm if I stand at the top of the screen at the ledge & click the hand on the other side it says You're already standing on that side. Then if i click it on the side I'm standing on it tries to jump from the current position & death ensues
