Title: Boxed version DRM free?
Post by: Iggi on August 15, 2014, 08:26:51 AM
Now that the time for the physical release is coming closer (and to prevent a disaster like in another project ;) ):

The DVD will contain DRM free versions of the game for all three platforms, won't it?

No, unfortunately, the DVD will have only versions for DOS 3.1 - and DRM that requires you to be connected to the internet while playing, and every five minutes you must "like" a cat picture on Facebook, or it shuts off.

Tee hee.

PS:

Yes, the DVD will have Windows, Mac and Linux on disc, DRM free.

I would prefer free DRM instead.  Can you do that too?

How about, once a week at least, a report on the current status of the update!

Dude!  I've got a boatload of 3˝" AOL floppy diskettes laying around.

Just put a piece of tape over the read/write hole to copy the QFI game; next, cross out "AOL Install Diskette" and then write "QFI" on the label using a Sharpie™-brand marker.

BOOM, you're set: practically ZERO cost for the magnetic media!  Just $$$ for the marker and a roll of tape...

Quest for Infamy: The Quest for Disk Space on 256,000 5.25" floppies. $99.95 shipping.

I am assuming that the DVD will will have the updated version of the game.

Yes! The DVD will have the most current and updated version of the game - plus a bunch of bonus stuff; production videos, production art, etc.  Some "deleted scenes/material" etc.

Will it make the players aware of anything secret, including the mysterious boss fight and how to find it, not a bunch of cryptic information thus far posted?

That's OK. Except for the Facebook cat picture part. Please just make sure the game doesn't need more than 500KB of conventional memory because of the size of my TCP drivers.

I guess I'm craped out of luck. My Tandy 1000 won't handle it.

I know, I watched that version about fifty times since you posted the link somewhere (on twitter, as far as I remember). Most addictive video ever.

Is there anyway for the late people to the party to get cards or a calendar (Did Jenny do the arts on those too?)

and I was told via a friend bt you were going to wait until the release was near to see what units you had and if some could still get a box or at least any goodies
Id like something, but I dont want to offend anyone by asking. So hope that I didnt, and let me know what if anything might be available for the persons who want stuff but didnt get a chance to back.
Never hurts to ask, worst answer is a nope!

hit me a pm or post
id appreciate it
:) love ya all no matter what answer comes back just so ya knows

Getting back to the Tandy 1000, it had a massive 20mb hard drive. The first game I ever played was King's Quest V but it cost me nearly $300 U.S. I bought it one Christmas, at Radio Shack, for $51. It was a gift to a couple of nephews, who lived 120 miles away. Then I decided I too wanted to play it, so went back to R.S. and bought it a second time. To My dismay, the disks were 1.44's. Bought an external scuzzi drive that supported the floppies. Got copy of literatures from nephews via mail. Before it was all done, I probably have the record for the cost of a PC game.
