Wow looks good. Am sure I will back in some way. How realistic is the release date? I get that an adventure game without the RPG elements will be a lot quicker to produce, but given how much time you went over on QFI was it not worth putting a bit more padding in the schedule?

On their site the director days that KQ is his favorite series of all time. That, if true, is a good start point

it was disney/sony just to clarify
disney owns the rights to all georges stuff,

"After Disney bought out Lucasfilm "

but yep

they said hell yes to double fine doing it vs a fan made company or their own

I wasn't talking about who owned the rights, but rather big gaming companies making announcements about adventure games at major conferences. That is why I mentioned Sony and not Disney as the announcement was made at the Sony E3 event

Their are rumors that Activision are set to reveal details of a new Kings Quest at gamescom, I find the idea of a new KQ only mildly interesting as I believe we already have the spiritual successors to the quest games.
What I will find encouraging is if this is one of Activision's major announcements. It was amazing how big a deal Sony made of Grim Fandango at E3, now if we have Activision making a similar fuss about a new Kings Quest it will show just how far the industry has come with regards to accepting adventure games again.

Quest for Infamy / Re: Shouldn't map usage pass time?
« on: July 31, 2014, 11:05:27 PM »

That only happens for the rogue so that the rogue has the option of using the thief tunnels.  The rogue actually has slightly different fast travel points because of the tunnels, so he can travel directly to the thieves' den or into Tyr (not just outside the gates) and the South Woods (bypassing the hunters.)

The other two classes' map use functions exactly as you described above.  :)

That is really good to know, so far I have only had a chance to play as a rogue and found the way the map worked to be odd. Now that you explained why and that it is class specific it makes a lot more sense. Am hoping to get a chance to play as a brigand this weekend

I am mixed on instant transport maps, but did like that it wouldn't take me anywhere but only to certain locations.

On the negative side was the amount of work to use the map. I would have preferred to just click on the map and be able to choose where to go rather than being taken to a separate screen where I again had to select the map so I could choose where to go.

Quest for Infamy / Game reception /sales
« on: July 17, 2014, 07:03:22 PM »
I am aware that for commercial reasons most teams don't release sales figures. So in a more general sense are you guys satisfied with the level of sales following release? Based on sales figures do you think their is enough of a market to make retro adventure games commercially viable in the long run?

I really hope that the answer is in the positive. I have enjoyed QFI so far, certainly it has it flaws, but given that it is your first commercial title it is a really good game.  I would love to see what the team could produce second up after learning lessons and receiving feedback from QFI

Quest for Infamy / Re: Countdown to Infamy...

I received the email from IQ, but not from Humble ?yet. (Did check my spam folder, tabs etc.) Entering my email in to Humble ensured I got my download link.

Strangely enough I came here partially because I thought there was no Steam option (which was strange since most Kickstarters who offer Steam keys and use Humble use it to provide the keys and the sale page also suggests it has Steam). But it seems to be there now, so I either I missed it the first time around or it was just added (may be took a while for the Special Edition or something?)

Anyway so I'm downloading both but will probably play on Steam. A bit of an achievement hog :-P And the trading cards :-)

I also didn't get a humble email. But found putting my address in https://www.humblebundle.com/store/keyresender generated the link

Do you think the backers will receive their download email at the release time or is it more likely to be later in the day. Just trying to plan my next few hours lol

Banter and Chit-Chat! / Re: Grim Fandango being remastered
« on: June 12, 2014, 06:21:04 PM »
Just watched Tim Schafer video talking about the new Grim Fandango. Interesting when they talked about approaching Disney it was about Full Throttle and GF, they made the case to Disney that the licenses (plural) would be worth more if something was done with them. I am sure it will start off with GF being the test, however it is clear that Full Throttle is in their thinking.

I would imagine FT would need to be a new game rather than a remake, could be years away and may never happen but how cool would it be!
