Banter and Chit-Chat! / Re: Grim Fandango being remastered

While the remakes may be considered "old news" my excitement for this project isn't really about the remake.

The idea of Sony wanting an exclusive with Schafer for an adventure game on their flagship console and then choosing to announce it at E3 is massive!!! To me this is the result of a fan community backing and creating remakes and then kickstarters and now we have one of the biggest companies in the world being a "great help" to re-master an adventure game.  I mean one of the headlines was "Sony hit E3 with GTA V, Unchartered 4 and Grim Fandango". That is pretty freaking cool

Fair play! Again seriously well done on the KS project, while an art book is not really my bag it pleases me so much to see the community is still willing to get behind projects. I am aware it is a very small sample of the community who have contributed so far but hopefully it is a sign that some of the cynicism (which was well justified) about kick starter projects has not tainted KS as a whole and good teams with good ideas will still be able to raise funds this way.

Am sure I will manage to flick something small towards it.

I am sure the allegation/ charges were only part of the reason they left, trowe was a train wreck waiting to happen. I found him infuriating and I had only read half  A dozen things written by the guy so I can't imagine what working with him would be like. Would love Josh to do a kickstarter he deserves every success and sadly won't have the opportunity to build on the success that LSL reloaded had, hope he got a good royalty out of it anyway.

Just think trowe  wanted both Space Venture and Hero U under the replay banner, what a disaster that would have been.

Didn't mean to make my rant about communication the main point of my last post oops. Again let me offer massive congratulations. If all you had ever done was created free remakes you would still be heroes (dont get confused and sign up for the hero parade Shawn). To then crowd fund and make your own original game is awesome. But to get it on the biggest gaming platform in the world is simply amazing. Your story encapsulates the spirit of adventure gaming. Above all the decision of steam is further confirmation of the genres revival. The past 12 months has been massive for adventure games and this hasn happened largely due to the fan community keeping the embers burning during the barren years, IA was at the forefront of this.

Really stoked that you guys got on to steam, that is fantastic. A little bit disappointed that we won't have the finished product before Christmas. I totally understand that it is still largely made in volunteer time and quality must take priority to speed. Just felt this delay could have been communicated when the mooted q3 release time came and went. Still I am sure the wait will be worth it

My real name is Aaron but at school some people used to call me Ronny. One day I ran on to the field to play rugby and the loud mouth of the school yelled out "ladies and gentleman introducing Rugged Ronny Garvin (an 80s pro wrestling character)" from then Rrg becam my leader board handle for arcade vid games and some friends would call me rugged or double r g. Of course that ended  years ago but when I needed an internet handle rugged seemed a nice throw back.

I have no idea what other indie adventures are being released this year, but it would be really cool if an Indie Adventure Christmas bundle could be put together and distributed.

I generally add a buffer of one to two quarters onto release dates from indie teams, so as long as it is released by Christmas I will be pleased.

Will this be the first full length game that isn't a remake released by kickstarter project?
