If you have a "magic" map, you should be able to warp into the South Woods and bypass the hunters -- at least for Act I. The Brigand and Sorcerer always get deposited right at the hunters, but the Rogue gets placed a little further into the woods (again, only for Act I).
A note about the "magic" map: the only two places where a Rogue enters at a different screen than the Brigand and Sorcerer are (1) the South Woods for Act I (mentioned above) and (2) Tyr (Front Gates = B & S / Marketplace = R). All other locations are the same (Hermit Homestead, Tower Bridge, Graveyard, Volksville and Mountain Path).
Alternately, if you know where the Brigand's Den is, you can use that route to enter the South Woods from the western side. However,
since IF you're NOT a Brigand, this is one instance where you'll definitely want to "feed the bears."
