Quest for Infamy / Re: Re: Boxed version DRM free?
« on: August 15, 2014, 03:30:03 PM »
No, unfortunately, the DVD will have only versions for DOS 3.1 - and DRM that requires you to be connected to the internet while playing, and every five minutes you must "like" a cat picture on Facebook, or it shuts off.

Dude!  I've got a boatload of 3˝" AOL floppy diskettes laying around.

Just put a piece of tape over the read/write hole to copy the QFI game; next, cross out "AOL Install Diskette" and then write "QFI" on the label using a Sharpie™-brand marker.

BOOM, you're set: practically ZERO cost for the magnetic media!  Just $$$ for the marker and a roll of tape...

SUBMIT SPACE QUEST 2 VGA TO THEM AND RACK IN THE BIG BUCKAZOIDS!!!!!!!  ;D

Hahah, if they want to give us a budget to go in, clean it up and finish a new version, that would be cool, eh?

I'm ready with the fonts!   ;)

Hahah.  I used to do "Tribute" and "Fuck Her Gently" back in my coffee house days.  I've been a fan of "The D" since the mid-90s.  Even watched the obscure HBO show they had - along with Mr. Show, which may be the best sketch comedy show ever.

Another Mr. Show fan here!

So what were your favorite gaming magazines from the oldschool days?

I really like Nintendo Power as well as EGM.

Hah!  Not old school enough for me, sonny!

It's Electronic Games magazine FTW!

Still have a bunch of them (early-to-mid '80s) in a box somewhere in my parent's basement...

Since I don't tweet, I have to make the observation from BT's recent tweet here instead...

...is the Iceman doing the Pee-Wee Herman Big Shoe/"Tequila!" dance?  (Granted, he's not on his tip-toes.)

Or am I exhibiting the first stages of early on-set PW withdrawal?

So good!! You're a master of fonts, my friend.

Thank you, s_d!

Along with this typeface, I designed the main text font (coincidently called "IQ Text") that's used in QFI.  I'm hoping that BT & Klyotos like it enough to use it in future IQ games, much like Sierra used certain fonts across many of their games...

And I also designed the in-game copy protection symbols, based on my love of QFG4's five element icons for Dr. Cranium's formulas.

*Note that you must be a registered FontStruct user to download the font.

After a while — if there's any interest — I'll probably provide a direct, non-FontStruct link for the TTF...   ;)

Saw this one a while back, but now it's on Steam's Early Access.  The team making this includes some of the original TIM developers, including Jeff Tunnell himself:

Be sure to put it next to the King's Quest 5 cartridge on your NES collector's shelf!
