I think their new funding method is really rubbing a lot of people the wrong way (as it should, frankly.)  If Jim Walls really wants to make a new Police Quest successor game, he should get in touch with one of the established groups, like Replay or even Pinkerton Road, and get them on board with the project.  That's the only way I could see this thing being made at this point, and I still think that's a huge long shot.

Mine is a title that was bestowed upon me by an acquaintance in high school who was a huge stoner.  One day in study hall (or was it art class?  Or was there a difference?), he was sitting there, stoned, riffing on the names of people around him.  Since only losers went by their first names in high school, my last name was the subject of his riffage.  I believe the exchange went something like this:

"Lamb...Lambo...Lambonius...whoa..."

And thus an internet sensation was born.

Speaking as a person who has been banned from a number of different forums over the years, I can definitely tell you that IP banning will do absolutely nothing to solve the problem if the person is determined enough and knows to access the forums via a proxy server.  There are plenty of free proxy server sites out there that will randomly generate IP addresses and let you surf at your leisure, so unfortunately, there's probably not anything else your friend can do other than developing a thicker skin.

My biggest closet music fandom by far is John Denver.  His catalog is full of a lot of cheesy crap, but his gems are AMAZING.

I will admit, I am tempted to throw in my support just based on Jim Walls' sweet mustache alone.

With all due respect, what part of that looks like old-school Police Quest style gameplay?  All of the mockups look like Telltale style QTE gameplay, which turns my stomach.

Just saw Lamb's sketch video. Love that he pops up that picture from Raiders for reference about midway through.

Heh...yeah, in the full narrated version of that sketch video, I explained that I had that image from Raiders in my mind as a conceptual reference.  There's not really anything in the final version of the screen that is directly lifted from it, but I liked the idea of the rocky grotto with a central altar, and that basically served as the general inspiration for the screen.  :)

To be honest, even before this, I had one subtle LSL reference/joke in the game already!!

I seem to recall putting one in a certain background where drunkenness and antics can ensue...

In all seriousness, I liked Alice, and the Wizard of Oz seems like a logical choice for the American McGee treatment, but I can't help but feel that what worked and was cool back when Alice came out has become incredibly tired and worn out now that it's 2013 and we've been seeing this sort of thing in every conceivable major fantasy, science fiction, and adventure franchise for the past decade.  Color me very skeptical.

What's that, you say?

A light-hearted children's story re-imagined to be Dark and GrittyTM?

Oh?  And it's going to have zombies, too??

How can this possibly suck???  ;)

It looks like even Microsoft finally realized that their policies were consumer-unfriendly and not likely to help them sell consoles - they've announced that they're removing the DRM they've been so proud of and region-unlocking the consoles, while removing the digital game-sharing that actually was one of the few good ideas they had. The point remains, though - game sharing and reselling was never a concern at all when games came on discs or cartridges, plenty of people don't want to need an Internet connection to play games that don't intrinsically require it, and if a developer wants to take the steam out of the used game market, they should concentrate on making games that nobody wants to get rid of.

Yeah, I just read this and was coming here to post about it.  While I'm glad they've "seen the light" and reversed their ill-advised policies, it's hard not to see this as an "Oh shit!  We gotta please the mob!" type moment, and that they only did it because the public put them up against a wall.  I don't believe for a second that they wouldn't jump on any opportunity to strong-arm the consumer if they could get away with it.
