It goes for that Monkey Island 4 "let's copy Grim Fandango,"

I literally have no idea what you mean by this.  I'm genuinely curious though--can you elaborate?

when you only have 16 colours to choose from you have to make every pixel count

I LOVE the challenges of EGA art, for exactly that reason.  Every piece is a puzzle to be solved, to figure out the best way to get the visual effects you want with the limited palette.  I'd totally be down for doing an SCI game.  :)

Being the first FMV game I ever played (I was lucky enough to basically entirely skip that era of adventure gaming), GK2 only served to confirm what I had already grown to believe about FMV gaming, that it generally sucks balls.  :)  For me, it's not even so much the FMV as the digitally manipulated photo backgrounds and sprites.  It just completely kills the magic for me--real world photographs cannot capture the same level of interest for me as genuine hand-painted artwork.  It feels cheap by comparison.  GK2 would have been so much better with hand-painted artwork.  SO MUCH BETTER.  I love historical fiction, and GK2 has some really nicely researched stuff, but the presentation just kills it for me.  I wouldn't really go so far as to call it "worst adventure game ever" though...unless I was trying to get a rise out of Cesar Bittar.  ;)

Am I the only one that used Sierra's exclusive middle-click to alternate between Walk and the last selected icon?

I'm sorry, MI, but we weren't all driving lamborghinis and dating supermodels and using 3-button mice back in the early 90s.  Way to promote class envy, man.

You know who else used to ban books without reading them?  The Nazis.

Thread over.   8)

Remind me again but how did Sierra apart?  How did they go from making classics like the King's Quest series to just plain crappy games?

Now THERE'S a topic that has never been discussed on Sierra message boards before.  Ever.  ;)

+2, and also an addendum to the forum rules that any future Miley Cyrus related threads be deleted on sight.

For me it was just the opposite.  I came on to do artwork, and was forced against my will to endure months of constant beta testing.  It has been an unending horror.

So how about that Precinct AMA?  Cleared everyone's concerns right up, didn't it?  ;)

Also, what an interesting challenge for the artists!  To be tasked with designing the look of things based ONLY on George Lucas' words and not on the decades of iconic imagery that we have come to know and love.  Looks like they did use the old McQuarrie concept paintings as at least a partial reference, though.  Still, very cool.
