You all know that full access was available the whole time, right? And worth every penny. 8)

Quest for Infamy / Re: What class do you want to play most?

I'm always a big fan of the magic-using classes because even a small number of spells can provide a large variety of ways to do things. I'm always confused about why people play through games like Demon's Souls, Fable, or the Quest for Glory series without magic.

I tried the 3D one, it was shocking. And don't get me started on the 4th one with American Simon. Haven't played it but not sure I want to.

There's a fourth one? I only just figured out how to get Goblins 4 last weekend! I haven't made it very far into the game yet.

I believe they streamed each episode worldwide for about a week after it aired. Someone deigned to tell me about it after the third episode... didn't want to jump in mid-season, so I guess I'm waiting for the DVDs.

Have you looked in the other public forums? There have been posts since October 20th in those, including a couple saying that the demo should be available to backers in December. Posts like this aren't likely to spark much discussion... if you want people talking, try bringing up an interesting topic.

And I have no idea what you mean by teasers other than what's been shown so far. If it hasn't been shown yet, who's going to know about it?

I'm playing one from GOG, which I imagine is the better quality version.

The GOG installer lets you choose between floppy and CD versions. I picked up the Gobliiins pack this week, and that just installs both versions of all three games. GOG gives you some choices.

I fell in love with Chris Barrie's voice when I heard him read the script to an unmade episode of Red Dwarf. Most of the time, I forgot he was doing all the voices because his impressions of the rest of the cast were impeccable.

And pixel-hunt obsessively. The second game is far worse for hiding things from you and requiring nonsense actions to solve some of the puzzles (at least there's a hint system in the first one for some of the weirder things you have to do), but in the first game, they love hiding items you need in plain sight.

Also, if you can, play the CD version with voices. I grew up with the low-quality music from the floppy version, and most of the voices sound little like what I imagined, but Chris Barrie is Simon. That alone makes the voice cast great.

Quest for Infamy / Re: Little and Big Mr Roehm

I think it's very simple. One moves when you move the mouse, the other doesn't move until you click. Granted, we apparently have one documented instance of someone finding this design confusing, but we also have documented instances of people thinking their CD-ROM drive was a cup holder and other people asking for a software fix for a power supply that was on fire, and those designs haven't been changed to make the reality clearer. I think we just have to accept that there will be people who think the cursor is a character and design the interface to suit the other 99.99995% of the gaming population. Then again, I'm not in charge of the interface design, so maybe it will change for the final version.

Well, when there's a hand floating around handing things to Mr. Roehm while both of his are still firmly attached to his arms... whose hand did you think that was? When a third eye eerily roams about the town staring at everything... whose eye is it? The crossed swords that randomly take a swing at passersby... WHO'S HOLDING THEM?

I think we may finally have our answer.

I wonder whether they'll be too worried about copyright to construct the "Nidoking Wing". I don't think they have anything to worry about... every Pokemon fan knows Nidoking don't have wings.

QFGV suffered from something similar to Leisure Suit Larry 4, although slightly less so (since there actually was a game at the end of the process). It was intended to have online capabilities, with up to five people participating in the same quest and competing against each other to finish each objective first. Obviously, that got scrapped along the way, and the game became a single-player experience with NPCs filling the other four slots. At least, that's the story I remember, and you can see it in how the game was designed, particularly the early parts.

If you get enough to fund the development of a game via KS, why would anyone hand their game over to a disinterested publisher? Sounds like a good reason for someone to start a third party digital distribution business for indies that just charges a cut of the profits per sale and let the developers to keep their IPs.

I expect GOG would be happy to do that. They've already started distributing recent games by other publishers as well as recent indie games. What's to stop them from becoming the sole publisher of certain indie games, aside from maybe some random legality I'm not aware of, never having created or published a game myself?

Honestly, if the money's there, then the model clearly works. If people do get irritated at funding multiple games by the same publisher, they'll have to talk with their wallets. As long as they can raise the money through crowdsourcing, what's stopping them? My question is how much any of these games will sell once they're made, considering that most people who want copies will already have paid for theirs via the Kickstarters. It might well be that that initial funding is all they'll ever earn for the games.

I've taken to paying with Paypal because my credit card always tacks on a few cents extra for the international service fee. No such fee with Paypal!

I should really get around to finishing the first demo for a basis for comparison before then, shouldn't I?
