I think that the best puzzles are ones that are organic to the game. Ones that are more problem solving than puzzle solving. Not just some arbitrary obstacle. I can't think of a single time that, say, a slider puzzle didn't break immersion.

Wikipedia has a few entries of creatures, though most not monsters. A few could be used. Draugr and lindworm may make for good combatants. Most of the monsters were dragons or sea monsters.

First point and click game was Black Cauldron. Great game, actually played it again the other day. Have video of me playing it.
You must have had an Apple if it was Point & Click.

The other big problem is that for the first few days no one else had power either.  You couldn't find a fast food joint to get some relief or anything.  There was just nowhere to go.
Same here, too. Not even any ice to be had without some travel.

It was in the mid 90s outside and over 100 in my house. The hot, stagnant air in the house made it impossible to sleep. All of the businesses near me had lost power, too. I also lost a refrigerator full of food. a disgusting, smelly mess to clean out by flashlight.

Got a little back-logged with the power-outage and weather

So you got hit with the outage, too? Mine was off for nearly a week.
