Their are rumors that Activision are set to reveal details of a new Kings Quest at gamescom, I find the idea of a new KQ only mildly interesting as I believe we already have the spiritual successors to the quest games.
What I will find encouraging is if this is one of Activision's major announcements. It was amazing how big a deal Sony made of Grim Fandango at E3, now if we have Activision making a similar fuss about a new Kings Quest it will show just how far the industry has come with regards to accepting adventure games again.

This is total news to me.
Lambonius...Rarely has our moderating team encountered a forumite as consistently unpleasant as you, and you've burned through far more chances than you deserved. A person really has to try hard to be so obnoxious that they're banned from AG, but you've managed it and then some.

I was just kidding by the way.  I can't swing a dead cat on facebook without seeing people celebrating (or bitching about) this announcement.  ;)  haha

To me it sounds totally new, with the freedom to go back to events, lands, etc. and embellish as they will be stories being told.  I honestly love the idea.  It allows for new players to be introduced to the story without having to relive the old games.  They can stray from Canon so to speak because it is an old man talking about stories from the past.  Love it.

I wasn't talking about who owned the rights, but rather big gaming companies making announcements about adventure games at major conferences. That is why I mentioned Sony and not Disney as the announcement was made at the Sony E3 event

This is just disgusting.  After abandoning it's audience; "Sierra" is coming back to milk the cashcow indie devolopers who gave us what we've been asking for these last 10ish years.

P.S, I'd like to thank Infamous Quests for giving me a nice adventure game fix.  I just found out about it recently and got it right away.

"A new King's Quest adventure game is Sierra's other new project. Developed by The Odd Gentlemen, the team responsible for The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, the new game is a 'fully reimagined' version of King's Quest coming in 2015. 'King Graham--revered as the greatest adventurer to ever live--shares his life's adventures with his curious granddaughter, Gwendolyn,' today's announcement explains. 'It is through these tales that Gwendolyn discovers the true greatness of her grandfather.' "

Gwendolyn...an amusing choice of name.

I await further details.

On their site the director days that KQ is his favorite series of all time. That, if true, is a good start point
