I am not sure, I'd have to ask Shawn. Or look in game code, I think he did that bit.

Quest for Infamy / Re: The Quest for Infamy Companion
« on: April 18, 2020, 10:19:17 AM »
I have actually even sent an e-mail to Infamous Quests, asking about it, but have received no response. :( Maybe the message got stuck somewhere, for example landed in the spam folder.
Anyway, I wanted to ask a question about the "Quest for Infamy Companion".
It's known that there are some secret areas in "Quest for Infamy". I (again) can't find a screenshot from the one with the pool, but this is, if I remember well, a secret area too:

Just posting it as an example.
I have been unable to find these secret areas on my own. Does the "Quest for Infamy Companion" include hints on how to get there?

Yeah, it must be in the spam folder, I have issues with that on the IQ email!! The Companion doesn't have info on these areas - it actually went to print before we added these as bonus materials.  Goatmeal gave some hints, but if you want specifics, I can help too.

Well, I WAS going to send more out this spring, but this Covid-19 pandemic has put a wrench in my plans; let's hope everyone stays safe during this.

Quest for Infamy / Re: Super old early 2000s QFI demo
« on: April 05, 2020, 08:28:10 PM »
Oh man, I haven't had that demo in years... that's lost to time for me.  And all the stuff on the IA-Server - the forum stuff, it got destroyed/deleted or something by some kind of virus. Things got messed up there.  I downloaded what I could from that server, but we stopped having server space there a long time ago.  Maybe the internet archive has something... but, man, I got nothing. I have so little left from the original 2003-2004 QFI ideas... god, that seems so long ago.  What friggin' kids we were.

Anyway, man, good luck. Shawn might have something but me... I got nothing.

It's definitely not these long in the future scenarios that make me sad; it's definitely the here and now.  I actually find the thought that the sun will run out and our rock will freeze to be comforting, but right now - being on dialysis sucks the big one and it makes me sad.

Yes, I've posted updates about it in several places;  I'll re-iterate - boxes are still going out, albeit at a slow rate.  There's only me left doing this and my time for doing it is very limited.  If you want to send me your name, I'll try and put you in the next group going out.

It's a new game we're working on.  I've been tweeting about it a lot.  There's a website and demo - www.frogsheen.com

Quest for Infamy / Re: Is Roehm to Ruin or QFA2 closer to completion?
« on: October 18, 2019, 12:07:35 AM »
I don't think there is ever going to be a Quest for Infamy 2, barring some financial miracle that allows us to live comfortably while indulging out wishes to make adventure games.... QFI was definitely a once in a lifetime kind of thing.  Stars aligned just right.

We had an idea and design for QFI2, but it would just cost too much to produce - more than it would ever make in sales.

Where did you get the game, and what kind of system are you running it on?

Well, adventure gamers forums regulars suck, so...

Who would have thought that the kind of obsessive, socially awkward weirdos who congregate to create and share Cedric memes wouldn't be big spenders in real life?

Hahah! Weird.

Yeah, I also think a lot of people who liked Sierra games in the 90s were more casual fans than hardcore gamers and that audience just isn't there now.

Yeah, I mean - we love this stuff. But in today's world, this is super, super niche and not the mainstream game software it once was.  People like us love "parser" and retro style games, but it's funny how the larger majority of people who enjoy these games won't pay for them like they would for console games.

It's like music - people want it, but they're not gonna pay for it! Or pay much for it.

Let the resurgence begin.

I hope so. But I get the feeling people won't ever like games the way we did again.  The KINDS of games, I mean. People will make "adventure" games, but they'll be radically different than the ones we grew up with.

Sarah! It's so nice to hear from you - I was just looking through old QFI Stuff and saw your portrait and wondered how you've been.
