Order of the Thorne : The King's Challenge / Forum Guidelines!
« on: January 25, 2016, 08:07:22 PM »
As in all social situations, some niceties need to be observed. So here's what you need to know to get along with everyone at Infamous Quests (and equally as important - how not to get banned!)

1. We won't tolerate flaming. This means you can't just insult people. Personal insults directed at IQ, it's team members, or other posters on our forums will NOT be tolerated at all. This also includes trolling, don't go looking for an argument or being an ass just to get noticed. You'll get noticed and not in a nice way. You WILL be warned, your post could be edited, locked or deleted and you could be banned.

2. We won't allow spamming of the forums with online game links, porn, or pirated software. If you post vile child-porn, you will be banned, blocked and we WILL report you to the relevant authorities.

3. Stay on-topic. Conversations are allowed to drift around the topic (for example, a post about music might flow into talk about guitars, then 80's hair bands, then why Van Halen rule so much.) What we don't want is a random post about something completely unrelated being posted in a thread. For example, the conversation is about music then someone posts about how they got drunk last night. Start a new thread.

Now for what you can expect of IQ and our moderators.

IQ is a softly moderated forum. This means we will rarely moderate a conversation, lock it or edit your post.

You needed to be 15 or over to register on our forums. This is because we don't believe in censoring people. Anyone can post whatever they like about any topic. We don't care. Religion, Politics, Sex are not out-of-bounds for our conversations. Just don't break our very simple rules.

These are adult forums where adults post, so don't expect us to moderate people or posts that you find insulting. We generally won't do it because above all else, we honestly don't really care too much.

Above all, have fun, enjoy a robust conversation with people of differing viewpoints, and don't take everything too seriously. After all, it's just letters on a screen.

The release of this amazing game is nearly upon us (June 26th to be exact, in case you missed the news!) and we're starting to build towards that day. Our forums will be undergoing some work in the next few weeks and you'll probably find some forums will be gone, new ones will have appeared and lots of exciting news will be spoken about![/font]

Thanks so much for backing Quest for Infamy! We appreciate your support and this game simply wouldn't have been possible without your help! We hope you've enjoyed the little snippets and tidbits we've shown you as production progressed! We've tried to keep them interesting and different, as well as not showing you everything (that would just spoil the game!) Because of the release of the game, the content on the private backer forums will be moved to the "Roehm's Hangout" forum, our general chat forum for Quest for Infamy. No need to keep that stuff secret anymore!

So once again, thank you! You will never know how much it means to us to have your support in the making of what has been a long process in bringing Quest for Infamy to completion.

IQ Chat / Merry Christmas from Infamous Quests!
« on: December 23, 2013, 07:02:52 AM »
It's that time of year again when all the silliness comes out, when people crowd into the shopping malls afraid they'll run out of food with the shops closed for a whole day, when we all get a chance to spend some time celebrating the holidays with our friends and family, or just enjoying a day to ourselves. It's at this time of year we all tend to get a little retrospective and look over the last year of our lives and I'm going to take this opportunity to talk about Infamous Quests over the last year. We also look forward to the coming year and plan and hope for even better things.

This year at IQ has been busy! We've worked hard all year on Quest for Infamy and I know personally I'm so darn proud of it. The land of Lornaria is huge and detailed, and all the little bits of back story that Steve  has written for it just brings the whole thing to life in such a vivid way. Every single person on our team has worked hard and produced some amazing work, from backgrounds to music, from animations to backer portraits, every single piece of work in this game is exceptional. I am so looking forward to the early months of 2014 when we release this amazing game and all you wonderful people get to play it.

On the business side of things we've got everything lined up and ready to roll. We're on the top 2 digital distributors around as well as having a publisher for our game, not to mention a marketing team that is so keen to get our game out there. I'm excited about the possibilities for this coming year!

We launched KickstartVentures in April this year and it's been amazing how popular it's been. I've enjoyed watching Broomie who has spearheaded this great site building a great team and I love reading their articles (as well as this I enjoy the occasional creative outlet in writing for the Rabid Penguin Opinion Pieces.) This is an amazing site, and it's growing and there's some exciting ideas and plans in the very near future.

Personally, I've had a huge year, working full time at Infamous Quests with my great friend and colleague Steve, studying history part time at University, and having a second baby! Well technically my wife had the baby, I just do the late night feeds! So it's been a great year!

I wish everyone here a great and blessed Christmas and New Year, and whatever you do this Christmas season have a safe one. We want you around in 2014 to buy our games!

IQ Chat / Lest We Forget
« on: November 10, 2013, 08:05:43 PM »
Today is Remembrance Day (Armistice, Poppy or Memorial Day in some countries) to honour the fallen in the first World War, and all wars since.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

IQ Chat / Queenslander!
« on: July 17, 2013, 09:37:13 AM »
I know this isn't an IQ or QFI related post, but as this is my company (along with my good friend Steve of course) I feel it's appropriate to say this...

QUEENSLANDER!

For those who don't follow the great sport of Rugby League, our pinnacle in Australia is the State of Origin, a three game series between the great state of Queensland and the loser state of New South Wales. After many many years in the 90's and early 2000's of NSW victories, QLD finally clinched the trophy in 2006 and we've now won EIGHT years in a row! A new record, the best being NSW 3 in a row 2003-2005.

While I love adventure games, what makes IQ most interesting is our other interests, and this is my number one. I love my state, I love my league and I love that we have won again. God I'm drunk.

Peace (unless you're a blue, then stand in traffic...)

Quest for Infamy / The Mines
« on: June 17, 2013, 03:08:16 AM »
Many years ago there lived a race of Dwarves, far away in the distant westlands, in a region called the Uplifted Mountains. These Dwarves were a surly lot, as Dwarves tend to be, and had a vast distrust of all other races which bordered on an almost pathological hatred. One thing the Dwarves did love was money. It mattered not whether it was precious jewels, gold, silver, bronze, or even Blythos' (the common trading currency.) As long as it was valuable, the Dwarven people loved it. A bard (a half Dwarf) was travelling through the westlands and a band of Dwarves from the Uplifted Mountains heard him sing a tale of riches  in the far off valley of Volksville. Natural caves that were rich with minerals were sitting untouched by Dwarven (and any other) hand.

So this band of Dwarves, not willing to share this wealth with others, traveled to Volksville and began mining these precious minerals. They expanded the caves into a labyrinth-like maze, mining all the precious minerals, processing them, and then sending them back to the Uplifted Mountains.

The mines are haunted by all manner of undead creatures and are regularly patrolled by the Dwarven miners. As well, there are strange rumors of an evil presence in the eastern portion of the mines. So beware, while it may be a maze and there are certainly riches to be found there, danger abounds!

You may remember back in our Kickstarter we promised extra content, part of that extra content is the Dwarven mines. There is some questing to be done in the mines, but it is optional and not required to complete the game. But it's worth it if you do!

Quest for Infamy / Answer to the Evil vs Rogue Debate
« on: March 26, 2013, 09:16:56 AM »
I was wandering around the internet today and came across this. Written by Raymond E Feist, who in my opinion is the single greatest fantasy writer since Tolkien. This, more than anything anyone at IQ has said, explains Mr Roehm.

"I have no "evil" characters in my novels.  I have characters who do evil things, but that's not the same thing.  Everyone is the hero of his/her own life story."

You're welcome.
