Quest for Infamy / Re: Stuck at download
« on: November 17, 2019, 09:18:39 AM »
it says it downloaded where would I find the file I need to extract?

If your didn't select the specific location of the download, it is most likely in your Download folder (which is the default setting/location for most web browsers).

In Windows XP:
1. Left-click Start in your Task Bar
2. From that menu, select Documents > My Documents     (This will bring up the My Documents window.)
3. Select Downloads
4. Your file should be in this location

"
Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10"

Sorry about that...  It appears that different places have different minimum OS requirements:

• Itch.io says "Windows"
• Steam says XP
• GOG says Win7
• Humble says XP
• The QFI Demo on the IQ website (listed above) says Vista

I figured, 'Hey, who ought to know what the minimum specs are better than the IQ website?'   ;)

yesterday windows xp..

More than likely, the problem is that you are trying to run it on an XP machine.

The requirements for QFI are:

OS: Windows Vista / 7 / 8
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1 ghz or equivalent
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: 2nd Generation Intel Core HD Graphics (2000/3000), 256MB
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Hard Drive: 1GB available space

Quest for Infamy / Re: Is Roehm to Ruin or QFA2 closer to completion?
« on: October 16, 2019, 08:59:41 AM »
Anyone?

Speaking as an IQ superfan (I'm not a developer):

1. QFI: Roehm To Ruin is definitely well into beta testing; all that's needed is voice acting to finish it up, but with limited funds, that makes it pretty difficult for IQ to achieve at the moment.

2. There are ideas between the developers for QFI2, but that's all they are at this point -- no development has actually started (Why?  See #3 below.)

3. Next up is continuing work on the sequel to Order Of The Thorne: The King's Challenge, the Kickstarted stretch goal bonus game Order Of The Thorne: Fortress Of Fire:

I wanna piss Rayford off lol.

You will certainly get that opportunity, regardless of which path you take.   ;)

I'm leaning Rogue.

The Rogue (Thief) is certainly a good choice, but the beauty of this game (like the Quest For Glory series before it) is that you can go back and play as Brigand (Fighter) and as a Sorcerer (Magician), with each path having their own different side-quests and story elements.

I recommend that you play through all three characters paths to get the full 'complete' experience!   :)

It's not official / cannon, but...

Four-and-a-half years ago, I made a joke in another IQ thread that there was a "special" ending to QFI which gave a preview of QFI2.  I even provided a summary for everyone who couldn't find it in the game -- which was everyone, because it's not there.  It was all just nonsense I made up to tease my fellow QFI fans.

I still believe it has the feel of how a QFI2 sequel might start...

You know Ross Scott, right?  The "Freeman's Mind" guy?  Old DOS/Windows games reviewer?  Foe of the trend towards online-only/server-dependant games?

Well, Ross's got a HUGE list of games that he's has been interested in over the years, and QFI is on it !

He's played a few of the games on the list, some are still in production, some have been cancelled, but there's a WHOLE lot of others out there that have been released -- including QFI !

     Here's a video about what & why:

Banter and Chit-Chat! / Re: Use windows 7 forever?
« on: June 04, 2019, 12:36:36 PM »
You won't be able to activate W7, I know at least that.

Did Microsoft wise up and prevent OEM manufacturers like Dell & HP from having activation-less back-up OSes for Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10 ?

I've got an old Dell Windows XP OS back-up CD that doesn't require an activation...

Order of the Thorne : The King's Challenge / Re: Free Sir Gauen
« on: March 27, 2019, 11:05:00 PM »
Is this Order of the Throne?  I don't recall Sir Gauen in that game...  Perhaps I should replay it?

Yes, he is one of the competitors of the King's Challenge.

Quest for Infamy / Re: Update / replace intro V.O. in QFI 2.0?
« on: February 24, 2019, 11:33:02 PM »
It'd be cool if the voices were consistent but I think most people aren't going to notice and it's not like a lot of developers go back and recast voices if the actors change in a later game, so I'm ok with the intro staying the way it is.

Agreed.  Most people won't know/recognize the difference (unless they play the two games back-to-back -- finish RTR & then immediately start QFI), and it's likely not worth the time & effort to re-do the QFI Intro VOs (digging up/finding old sound effects, music files, etc.).

However, since the characters in RTR will be saying the same exact lines as QFI, it was just a though I was had to bring QFI 2.0 in-line with RTR...   ;)

========================================

Oh, and one final art quibble: in most of RTR, the entrance to the Baron's castle is decorated and there is a red-and-white tent off to the side of the front right round tower.  However, when Roehm escapes (to match QFI's intro), the tent and decorations are gone...

Was it because after Alyssia hit him over the head, Roehm was knocked out for so long that the party has been over for a while (passage of time) and it's well into the night?  This would seem to be the case, since all of the lights in the castle are out...  Would the Baron have had his staff immediately remove the tent and decorations as soon as the party was over?

If not -- and Roehm is only knocked out for a few minutes -- when he escapes, the decorations and tent should still be on screen (albeit dark/not lit-up as earlier), and for continuity's sake, QFI v.2.0 should match it for the intro...

Quest for Infamy / Update / replace intro V.O. in QFI 2.0?
« on: February 18, 2019, 12:30:09 PM »
Now that you are accepting submissions for potential voice actors for QFI: Roehm To Ruin, I had an odd thought:

It's highly likely that you will use two new voice actors for Alyssia and the Baron, as they have more lines/speaking parts in the prequel.  Will you update the introduction for QFI version 2.0 by using the new voices (for continuity's sake), or is that introduction pretty much set in stone, where it's not worth the time/effort to splice/overlay the new RTR voices?

It's not like you don't have enough to do for the time being, and I think I know the answer; just wondering...   ;)

Banter and Chit-Chat! / Re: Could cell phones be a culprit?
« on: February 06, 2019, 12:06:19 PM »
Cell phones can and have exploded due to faulty batteries. Stored in baggage in the cargo hold, could they be the culprit in some airline tragedy's? Maybe cell phones should be banned from carry on and stored baggage! Especially in a passenger's pocket or purse!

Because of this very potential problem, Lithium batteries are HIGHLY regulated are far as mass shipping goes, and for passengers flights, the FAA says spare Li batteries CANNOT be checked with baggage but instead MUST be carried on in the cabin.

Banter and Chit-Chat! / Re: Favourite (Unintentional???) Film Moments
« on: January 06, 2019, 05:58:15 PM »

I [presciently] discussed a favorite (unintentional???) film moment as a tangent almost 6 years ago in a thread about the Oculus Rift:

     http://www.infamous-quests.com/forum/index.php?topic=541.0;all

Man, I miss me some Aladdin's Castle at the local malls...   :'(

When Sam Flynn hit the main breaker switch in "Tron: Legacy" and Flynn's Arcade lit up after all those years with all of those machines coming back to life, and Journey's "Separate Ways" started booming in the background...

...I got chills watching that on the big screen.

Kids today will NEVER know how that feels...
