Honestly, all Zombie stuff, since Romero, has been social commentary over horror.  And the trope of turning the classic story on it's head by making it dark and gritty?  It's old and tired.... The art for Ozombie looks great, but honestly, the game is as interesting and original to me as a can of government cheese.

Jeez, Sarah - I hope you're okay!  That is scary - and much worse than just having your car conk out on you.  I'm so sorry... wishing you all the best.

Alexkidd,

In addition to having an awesome forum name (Highly under-rated Sega game series!), I have to thank you for your compliments... seriously.  You definitely flattered me with your compliments about the writing, and I'm really thrilled you enjoyed it!  I can only hope you enjoy the rest of the game as much when it's done!

Stick around - and if you have any questions, ever, I'm always around to talk.

I'm sure we'll be amazed when the game comes out.

I hope so. Incidentally, I implemented your portrait into the game this past week.  Looks good - I hope you like it, and your character.

Hey friends, kiddies, rogues, barbarians and hairdressers of all kinds,

Bt here.  Just going a little insane after staring at game code all day long.  Yeah, it's been another one of those long days of working on the game.  Slowly, but surely, things are starting to come together.  I've really been working hard and putting in little touches here and there - some sound effects for more ambience - NPCs to talk to and explore... little animations that make the difference.  Interactions that are interesting and sometimes funny.

I can tell you one thing - this world of QFI is vast.  I did a ton of work today, and I feel like I didn't even touch much of the entire game!

It's been great though - We're almost entirely done with the background art now - I think I can count on one hand (twice) how many backgrounds we have left.  Jason, Ivan and Fizzii have been working like crazy to get them done.  Lambonious, in particular, has been working like a beast monster, and I think that he might turn into a mad scientist when this is all over.

Jenny has turned it several new portraits for characters, and I added several into the game's build recently, and it's always amazing how much character they add... when Jeremy's sprites, Jenny's portraits and my writing come together to breathe life into a character... it's amazing!  I love it... I get giddy like a kid.

Well, it's the 30th anniversary of King's Quest this year, too.  30 years.  Some of you haven't even been alive 30 years.  Sadly, I have, AND THEN SOME.  But, hey, who's counting.... except, well, the Earth....

Anyway, 30 years of KQ.... that adventure game classic.  Without it, I wouldn't be here, and I know many of you can say the same thing.

So, yeah, I was working all day on this, and to take a break, I came out here to write this to you.  Just to expel some of my crazy, but also to thank all those who support us... this is going to be crazy fun when we get it all done, lemme tell you!!

We'll keep keeping you posted - I'll be sending out a Kickstarter Update soon, too, with some exclusive pictures for everyone!

Thanks again, peeps.

Yeah, seriously.  If I wanna console game, I've got my NES and SNES, heh.  Oh, and my OUYA, which has proven to be quite fun.

Quest for Infamy / Production Video - A Background by Jon Stoll
« on: June 04, 2013, 06:41:34 PM »
Jon Stoll is what Hogwarts might refer to as a wizard.

He not only crafts beautiful backgrounds, but he's an amazing pixel artist and animator as well.

Watch him work his magic on this background from The Volksville Woods - and see the finished version in Demo 2.0!!

Umm, yeah, heh - it's kind of crazy.  There's a really rich world to explore here.  Keep in mind, this is 170 not including the 100+ rooms of the Zork-like maze-mines that you can explore and loot, as well.

Hey Guys!

Whew... well, I can tell you - it's been a BUSY month over here at QFI headquarters.  We've been swimming in amazing backgrounds, crazy fun animations, and lines and lines of code.

We're really closing in on completing ALL the backgrounds for Quest For Infamy - at this point, we have over 170 for you to explore.  It's... well, frankly crazy.  But it's a pretty big adventure game world - the kind of large world I always wanted to explore in a game.  It's amazing that we can do all this now.

The sprites and animations that have been made lately... they're just mind blowing.  Jerm, "Dr. Slash", Matt and Jon have been making incredible animations that will populate the world.  Jerm's also made all the backer cameo sprites for the game - and Jenny Pattison is working on the portraits to accompany them.  I'm very excited for people to get to see themselves!  It's fun to be able to offer our supporters a part of the game and a part of the story.

The backgrounds that Fizzii, Ivan, Jon and Lambonius have been making are just breath-taking.  Heh, I mean, I wish I could do them more justice with my words - but seeing them come to life, and watching the separate areas of the Valley of Krasna come to life - and thus bring the game world together - has been amazing.

We're toiling along here - working very hard.  The team is really giving an extra push these days as we barrel towards completion.

I just wanted to check in with you all, and let you know!

Hai Frands!

Today we have a new production video for you - a special presentation by Jeremy Kitchen - who animates a series of battle sprites for a character named "Gorth", a bully from Volksville who has a bone to pick with Roehm.  Check it out!
