Prior to playing it though I am not sure many knew that QFI was going to be a partial piss take. I had backed it and followed it right through andI was not expecting that.
? piss take?

It's British/Austalian/Kiwi slang.

"It is often used to mean (or confused with) taking the piss out of, which is an expression meaning to mock, tease, ridicule, or scoff"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taking_the_piss

Basically means parody.

Thanks - James Mulvale did the music, Jon Taylor-Stoll did the art & animation and I wrote and programmed it; I tried to combine elements of adventure games that we all love, from SCUMM to Beneath a Steel Sky and Sierra.  Glad you enjoyed it; it has gotten us some good press.

I just wanted to show we're not going down without a fight, I suppose.

Quest for Infamy / Re: Quest for Infamy v2.0 progress thread
« on: August 23, 2016, 10:24:29 PM »
Shawn summed it up well; we're actually doing a lot of work to Quest for Infamy right now, but our time for work is limited.  But I can say it's been fun revisiting the game and doing work to it again.  Reminded both of us, again, how much we loved the game and how much we loved making it.

Quest for Infamy was something Shawn and I came up with in 2003 - when we were just eager guys in our 20s, looking to make what we thought was "our ultimate dream game".  Revisiting it with an eye for fond memories has been nice.

Hopefully the changes and upgrades we make for the new version make for an enriched playing experience for everyone.

Order of the Thorne : The King's Challenge / Re: Post-mortem thoughts

Yeah, the cost of plane tickets and hotel, food, etc. was more than the cost of the booth - the booth wasn't cheap, either.

But we had a really good time in Boston and met a lot of good folks, and I got to spend time with some of my best friends from around the globe.  I really liked being at the show; there's a large disconnect between how audiences on the net and audiences in person react to our games, etc.  If we had the kind of budget that would allow us to travel cross the country and world doing promotion like booths at expos... man.  That would be fun, and good exposure.

You can get a physical copy of the book from Amazon.com, actually - the link is here.

https://amzn.com/168222189X

The publishing house that printed the books for us has it on "print on demand" service through Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.com I believe.

PS

Someone is trying to re-sell the book on Amazon for $91.00 - hah!

Oh no, we'll give the story completion in Fortress of Fire - we're not going to leave that a cliff-hanger.

There shouldn't be a problem with sending your saved game to info@infamous-quests.com now - just make sure you let me know your forum name; I can fix it.  Sorry for the delay, I've been ill for a few days.

Haha, no, I can't blame people for wanting their stuff - it's pretty cool.  I promise it'll get there - just taking me longer than I'd like. Someday it'll be all done and we'll all be laughing about it!

Still going out - I'm only getting a few packages out a week, though, right now.  Everyone will get their stuff, but it's taking me longer than I'd like.  Don't worry - people will get their stuff; we do have them! We just don't have a dedicated shipping staff and it's killing me!!  Broomie and Klytos can confirm, we have all the stuff, just sending it out is slow going.

If I have one thing to tell people about Kickstarters, it is never underestimate how much time and effort your shipping will taker, and make sure you have someone absolutely dedicated to JUST that! (Or use a shipping house; they have them now for kickstarters,  When we did 'em, they didn't have such things for smaller businesses like ours....)

Yeah, you know, I guess I really just don't care about this game.  I bought it when it first came out, so I get every chapter, but I haven't played beyond chapter one due to an honest lack of interest.  It just isn't for me.  They dropped the ball on this one - despite doing some things right (The art IS beautiful) they still got it wrong for the King's Quest style.  I feel like the game is cursed with the KQ name.  If it was its own thing, it'd be way better.

But as a King's Quest game, it sucks.

I actually forgot about the fish oil, because you basically only use it in the intro.

Okay, haha, it's not bugged; You're using the wrong kind of oil.  You're trying to use the sticky fish oil in a glass.  That won't work; find another store that'll sell you a little vial of oil used to lubrication!

I don't believe there is a way to display the version number; at least not in game.  I'll have to add that in v1.3

Hahah, seriously - I think it's a nice poster, but you have to take it with a grain of salt, right?
