IQ Chat / Re: The future of Infamous Quests
« on: August 03, 2016, 02:32:03 PM »
We didn't have the money to devote to QFI2 after QFI which is why we focused on a smaller game instead. QFI took nearly two years to make with a team of 10+ people.

No matter what happens you did a remarkable and worth wile thing with your games contribution. I can only hope that if not continued one day it will be revisited or picked up. I was really hoping it would be like another quest for glory series, with a detailed progression and outcome for Baron Roem. If only you could get the absolute support you need from interested parties. Have you tried companies? A publisher?

Btw I was hoping to see the Baron, Baron Roem was running from shit himself with the news of Roems new position in life...hahaha.

You know, Roem taunting him at the kings palace maybe at a celebration or award ceremony.

After all Roem went through he earned it, and should at least enjoy it for a bit. Dont you think?

The fact that I'm the voice of Kessel and my wife is the voice of Ina makes things all that more weird.

IQ Chat / Re: Is Roehm to ruin rp like qfi?

Why not put in a few of the cool suggestions I made in privious threads to make it even more infamous? The would be almost universaly welcom and might help qfi on your back list? I cant beliave you only sold 25 games.

It's not that easy just to "insert" a few new things into the games (vast programming, art, music, speech, and beta-testing elements are needed).  At this point: BIG effort = little payback.

And again, by playing version 1.1 first, it looks like you missed the "new stuff for the update" phase of QFI; they DID add the three new rooms for the 1.1 update that were not in 1.0...

Lastly, I believe the "25 games" comment was an exaggeration, and should not be taken as a "serious" number.  Klytos likely used an absurdly low number to drive home that fact that the QFG-style game -- while there are superfans out there -- is still definitely a niche (i.e., tiny/minuscule) market compared to other types of adventure games, let alone video games in general.

If there is such a clamor for QFG-style games, there would be dozens and dozens of similar adventure-RPG hybrids games out there.  For the last 20 years, however, there are only two that come to mind: Quest For Infamy and Heroine's Quest, and both of those are just within the last year or so.

It makes MORE sense to design other adventure games that expand your fan base, so you can sell more games.  In turn, you can make enough in revenue so to make another game that may not make as much money.  It's like movies: giant blockbusters help pay for the smaller indie movies that may not make economic sense in the long run, but are still important in their own right and should be made.

Plus, branching out is important because people -- designers and gamers -- have different interests.  Sierra didn't make only King's Quest games; LucasArts didn't keep remaking Maniac Mansion.  They made different games to appeal to more and more people.

And, with an expanded fan-base, that means more adventure game fans might have more exposure and be more apt to take a chance on a QFG-style game by a company with a proven, successful track record, rather than trying a first game sight-unseen:

"Quest For Infamy 2?  Oh, it's from the guys who made the Order of the Thorne. I liked those -- I'll give QFI2 a try!"

as opposed to

"What's Quest For Infamy?  Who are Infamous Quests?  It's their first game?  I'll pass..."

And with its long and storied 10+ year history, just be happy that QFI was ever able to be made in the first place...

Hey mr. Goat, good points, yes indeedy...why dont you check out my new uncommented upon reasons thread ,you might have some ideas, ol pal of mine...for some fun things to try, by the by.

I like the qfi community Kaldire goatmeal and others, pretty cool.

From the 2 comments it sounds like its trying to go mainstream, thats horribly sad. qfi is awesome but now I think that was a one shot deal.  :( For more of the same it will prob have to be a fan project years from now. Dudes I hope I'm wrong but, I think I see where this is going. Qfi was a tribute and now its over.

I hope I am wrong but I doubt it. If 2 turns out to be like that new kings quest thing, with the disturbing kid/doll/ps3 king ghram, and log jumping with a toystory pixar look I doubt I would like it. I am no longer a child and I was never that sort of child.

Still you guys gave us qfi, so I wont speak aginst you ever, it took real talent imagination and skill, not to mention indeviguality and creativity to make it. You guys made a work of true genus. A new cult classic. Infamy will always have a place in gaming history, its well infamos...the only other word for it is cool.

When I first played it, I was like, theses guys geti t. Its a real game, after years of shite...I was like...amazing.

I got almost every refrence you made, thats not common for me. In most recent games, I am like what? In qfi, I was like therse guys are cool, they rock...and the rocks not alternative but the real deal, they actully have balls...will wonders never sease.

No, not the Infamous Quest Bar: You get to play the first few scenes at the start of QFI2 with the alternate ending.

Just in case you can't find it, here it is:

( ATTENTION: MAJOR QFI2 SPOILERS -- DON'T READ!!! )

Spoiler (hover to show)

ok your joking.

You are absolutely right -- they are actually QFI2 spoilers, and NOT QFG2 spoilers as I had originally written.  You can still see my mistake in your quote above this post.

I have since corrected that in my original spoiler post, and in this post.  Sorry for the confusion.

I mean about there being 2 endings.

Quest for Infamy / Re: GOG 1.1 bugs (Sorcerer)

archery = time
killing while you are just doing it = already doing it
saving each kill, on undead mainly the higher undead with axes= max loot per minute
1k bly is almost nothing in regards to say, just waxing about 40 scorps  selling their tails
or just saving and loading before looting lol

again thats the best one there, tedious .. maybe but enjoyable to go, you got waah and a potion lol

also in game tmie, archery takes loads of too but if you arent in it for a time run meh hehe
but to be sure the fastest way to get bly with no effort is to work, at the docks
over n over n over, takes so many days and a bit of sleep n rations but hey trust me on that too
test all of the above!

again  many paths  or pathos to one goal hehe pathos   ahem nm
bad wordplay there ;) only the word nerds will even get it XD

Your right of course but meh...its a fun mini game and I like doing it.

Oh yeah, I liked Ian too, he is what a rouge should be in my view...and prospero. Love that dry humor.

Roe: I want to ask you somethings about that necromancer.

Prospero: I'll humor you.

Roe: What did you do to piss her off so much, did you screw her sister, her mother?

Prospero: yes.

Roe: right...

LOL!

You cant pay to much attention to reviews most of the stuff I like has crap reviews, for the type of person that likes these sort of games its great...or another type of gamer they would nit pick piss and moan, about most things.

Yeah the game is really cool, and as a series it has potintal, for years I actully wished someone would do some kind of difrent perspective on quest for glory.

I did not think it would be good not because of reviews but because of the bad attempts by many that did not get it, to do such things. Yet because of great people like agd I had hope, because some people still got it aperntly.

Quest for infamy was like what i was hoping for but it was still verty much its own, thing, a new thing, but good and theses days thats damn rare to be sure.

"Help" in the case of the chest means the Thieves Guild Lockpick Kit.  That's all.  The rest is skill, which you have to have an abundance of.

And Shawn's right - just that little bit of backstory we have in the companion is all we'll release now; a lot of the information ties into the story of Quest for Infamy II, so I have to save it for that.

Bt

thank you....I MEAN THAT. thank you.  :)

some of these arent correct or are really odd

archery for bly?

hahahah
noooo noo noo , fight for bly  all know the fight undead save and loot trick
as for rayfords  sorc etc cant pick the chest lock  hence why spells are sold for swords though youll never need a sword

tons of wrong stuff on this list mate, seems class biased a bit too, and quite bombastic as my posts are, but very well formed in syntax at least. :)
and some of your post is funny and so true but some is so off kilter :O confusion sets in.

you guys are driving me mad not giving me a hint about that chest in rouges secret room, before long I will be donre with this playthrough. It says, you cannot open this chest without help. What help? you can open the other 3 at the foot of the other beds.

sure its right 50 bly everytime you win jonas game at hermit homstead, and I rarely lose. 50 bly every couple of min. maybe less than that, never timed it.

5 arrows done, you have beaten my score, heres your 50 bly, sound farmiler? over and over again.

IQ Chat / 1.1 bug list act one. (spoilers)
« on: May 03, 2015, 07:52:54 AM »
1. Hunters.
You can no longer just kill the hunter outright as a infamus type might choose to do and have the other hunters run away, as you can in the other version of the game if you felt that was more like your classs, more infamus then using the hooker solution.

You can ignore the hunters walk around to where ever, the dwarf mine or beach, even come up bhind them if you choose, they are not really blocking anything if you take the right path. This is not cliping or and exsploit you can easily just choose a path that aviods them. No need to bother with them if you dont want.

which is of course the first thing one would try, this pretty much negates the hooker method.

Mayors house
2. You can no longer be smart and skip the statue thing by climbing the vines at the mayors house and going right to it, it says your not close enough when you stand at the door up top and try to open it after you have climbed up. Thats elainating options and forcing one solution or its a bug. You could in other version.

Top of barracks.
if you choose to click on a statue and hide on top of the rouge secert entance to tyr, it triggers a patroling guard/maybe volarus, otherwise its just as it was a entrance and exit...but the pat never comes back just busts you when you try to exit.

I thought you needed to pickpocket her to open tyrs arrow barracks 4th chest or something but there is no interaction you can really do with her up there but get killed so....yeah no point in clicking the statue to trigger it.

Rouge secert room, you cant open 4th chest but you can all 3 guards chests but this maynot be a bug as it says you need help so maybe I have not found the solution stat grinding in act one.

Then again, I did not think it would be easy to get acsess to volarises chest anyway lol....as much as Roe would like to, shes not a easy date.

Rayfords house.
You can break in still, in act one, and get a book about solving the moonshiner puzzle that has yet to occur. Getting a great sword aalso and not needing to worry about prosperos overpriced spells....then map out immdently, as for some reason its hard to exit via door.

Of course people are going to try smart solutions first, but then with the archry game, its pretty much unlimited free blys anyway so this hardly matters. You can have what you like in the first few days.

...Insight
A rouge like roland shoots with there mind, and seeks the most pragmatic solution. He would first do what i did and simply walk around then he would try hooker method. More cost effective to. A master theif wont waste money if its not needed.

In the hunter puzzle, a brig for exsample would just ambush and kill/loot them if he had the skill. Brigs are not very nice guys, play trail by fire if you want to see what I mean.

Even if he were what would be considered soft for a brig, he killed gorth for less, knowing very little at the time if you think about it, gorth was just running his mouth and picking a fight.

Roe atagonized him and then killed him for his lip basicly, and because he was a bully, when he decided to escalate it...as roe had the sense to know the man would if he took one  look at him. Roehm is not a stupid man.

Thes hunters are clearly arsholes like gorth after all. Not letting the man pass and the way they talked. bullies of a kind too. Well, live like a arsehole, die like one. Nope not very good guys...and they were activly in the way.

Otherwise he would be a fighter/warrior wannabe qfg pally, and not shades of a more complex, contextaly more noble, qfg style brig seeking infamy rather than normal glory.

A wizard/warlock would likely fear them. If your using rp and thinking like your character, rather than needless killing, or wasting time, he is a man who relise on intelect and would first try his spells. Besides as the cool narator says, roe is a bit lazy. (I love they narrator).

I see playing 3 classes like in qfg, your playing three parts of roe's character and devided mind, they are aspects of him...and besides the class should inflence ways of looking at things and problem solving, otherwise what is the point eh?

As for the over a apple achevement...well, I wont even go there.
