Title: Election Day in the USA
Post by: Chadly on November 08, 2016, 08:57:42 AM
Today is Erection, oops I mean Election day in the United States of America.  So today we in the USA for the nation's most powerful office, president.  If your from the USA and of legal voting age, get out there and VOTE, because its super and your civic duty.  AND for J. H. Christ yes your vote counts for something, I'm tired of folks saying they don't vote because it doesn't matter. IT DOES MATTER PERIOd! :)  SO, Don't Vote, Don't Bitch about things or politicians (which generally are dishonest and suck), or the state of the Union.  VOTE, VOTe, Vote!!!!!!

I voted for somebody. It's going to be fun to see their hair get grey in a year or two. Loss of weight and quite a bit of sagging, but nothing changes about the intelligence.

Taxes, politicians, and cigs suck! :)  I quit smoking about 5 years ago when my brand went to 5 bucks a pack.  Now where I live on the east coast of the USA, a pack of Marlboro with sales tax tacked on to the other taxes (double dipping if you ask me) they cost $8.12.  Cheap brands are 7.  Legal weed, neat idea, tax that too and sell it in state stores. However its still illegal on the federal level.  Perhaps I will move to CO, CA, MA, or somewhere where pot is legal for adults to smoke for medicinal purposes...... ;)  Chadly.

but i donts live wheres yous do's

in nyc its like 12 a pack,

but its not jsut that even papers 99 cents, will be 2.87$ more  for a 1$ item
no matter if you get a low end pack, or high end pack, the tax is the same,
makes zero sense

so if i wanted to buy 12 lbs of tabacco to roll, its still only 2.87$ tax,  or 1 pack cigs 2.87$ tax.
thats.. odd and lame.

yet now pot is legal, lets go get some from the guy on the corner smoking it (who has to be 21)
and you also have to be 21.. to smoke it now..
which is nuts, aww poor kids who been going to the clubs n such for years now, not quite 21..

imo it should be 21 + to get in army or 21+ to vote if they do this crap

anyway dont base cigs on region.. base it on where it is and what it was

so imagine your cigs went up 6$ in price etc.. same effect

edit : daaaamn seriously  thats to much for smokes..where you live I mean
roll your own!

@Klytos (http://www.infamous-quests.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=8) aka Shawn.  Not whining about the cost of cigs mate, as stated earliar I quit 5 years ago.  My point is taxes raise every year!  You are telling me a pack of cigs which is 20 individual smokes here where I Live is 30 dollars in your neck of the world?  Wow! Fuck me what is your individual income tax rate?  What the hell do you pay for a rent or a mortgage, or a pound 16 oz of hamburger there?  Jeez, just curious bud. I would love to move to Australia, howver if that's the cost of living and that's for a citizen, how much would an alien cost?   Chadly.

Well ok. the bloody election is over and by all accounts a stunning victory for "The Donald" aka ego man.  Shit man I seen folks post doom and gloom already.  Hell there are just pissed that their candidate, sponsor, or friend didn't win. Frankly who gives a flying fuck?  Now I do as I want my country to be strong and stand for the ideals that it was founded on, however folks I'm not a multi millionaire, or a CEO of a billion dollar Corporation, what can 'ol Chadly do to effect change?  Nothing but vote which I did.  Lets just see how the cards turn up and not judge on our perconceptions.  Lets give ol Don a Chance.  He might suck or he might be great....Who knows......yet......Chadly

As with all countries, it depends where you live as to the cost of living. I'm in a regional town about 600km away from a capital city, so it's a bit cheaper around these parts, although we do miss some services a big city gets. That's the trade-off of course.

Smokes are taxed to the ends of the earth and back. There's automatic indexation on them, so they go up 5% every single year. 1 July, bam, increase. Buying tobacco and paper and rolling your own is still a bit cheaper, but not by a great deal. We have universal health care which we pay for with a small charge at tax time every year, if you smoke you pay more for that too (quite rightly too I think). Although I'm pretty sure most people lie about that! The tax isn't there as a revenue raiser, it's there to stop people smoking - which at least in Australia reduces the amount the government has to spend on health.

My income tax rate is about 30% with a tax free threshold of $18k (ie. I only pay tax on money earned after the first $18k).

Standard weekly wage is about $700 more-or-less and reasonable houses cost from about $250k upwards. Interest rates on home loans are 3% or thereabouts. Depends on the bank of course.

A large Big Mac meal is about $10 (that's the easiest food to compare internationally I've found!)
