Your assumption here is terrible.  Sorry, but it is.  I would agree that it was a HUGE part of the market.  But, of the households that were in the market, the demographics were very similar.  This means it was easier to have games that appealed to the market as a whole.  By contrast, the market now is very different.  Also, if 100% of the market loved KQ, and the market grows 10 fold, then 10% of the market now was in that original group.  As the market expanded, they didn't go back and play the old favorites.  That is why the sales of KQ are heaviest with KQ7 and KQ8 (even though those games were not the best, or close to it).  I would assume a very small slice of today's market even knows what KQ is.  You know, like those guys from PAX who couldn't remember Matt Korba's last name, or GRAHAM's name for that matter.

The name "King's Quest" is a big, milk-heavy teat hanging down from on high, with the Odd Gentlemen's fingers tightly wrapped around its raw nipple, as Activision impatiently waits with open slathering mouth below.

You over estimate the name.  The series as a whole sold 7 million games, TOTAL.  Nothing to write home about in today's market.  Yes, it is the top name in adventure gaming, but face it, we are a niche audience.

Chadly, the urologist has no clue what he is doing.  It took me going to my internal doc about migraine headaches to get to the bottom of it.  Turns out I need to  have an out of whack parathyroid gland removed.  Like I said, we think we know the cause (11 years after the first stone).

Jeeeeez, I knew exactly what it was when I saw it.  Ouch, ouch, ouch.  Those things hurt.

After about the third one, you know whats going on and although painful, you kinda get used to it.  Not pleasant, but not so crazy either.  I just hope they have it all figured out why I get them.  We think we do and it looks like more surgery for chuckie boy.

That makes 7 or 8 of those in the last 5 years.

It sounds like they're going for a Grim Fandango style of interactivity, where you can only interact with things in close proximity to the player character.  This would certainly be the preferable option, of the two that you mentioned, but I can't help but find it ironically amusing that everyone is lauding the Odd Gentlemen for copying the control style of a game that has always been majorly criticized for its controls.   ::)

Kinda funny given the PC version of the grim fandango remake added in a point and click mouse cursor.

For anyone with this issue, we found that deleting the file QFI.dat and then triggering the achievement again will fix the problem.

Not sure but dosbox will have to let us know, but it sounds like the steam achievement did not unlock because the in game achievement was already triggered.  I am just thinking that in order to get the steam achievement to trigger he may need to clear out the in game achievement although I don't recall if we made that possible.  I think we scripted it, but I am not sure if we enabled it.

I think it's just a random death from licking the button. The text saying to search the bathroom more thoroughly is just us being assholes.

This is absolutely correct.  I remember the whole discussion about adding the button pretty well.  We threw that in very last minute, and it really was just to screw around with people.

Let me preface with this, I love The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.  I loved the LotR movies as well.  one of the best movie adaptation of a book I have seen, ever.  With that being said, I saw the first Hobbit movie and have not seen any other, nor am I likely to do so.  It was terrible.  Period.  I would much trather watch the amazing cartoon version from my childhood.

I am not saying that there isn't demand, just that there isn't enough demand to make it worth the amount of work it takes.  As for cloud based emulation, I am not sure how that works except the consoles don't need the hardware since the computing takes place on other servers.  At the end of the day, we will just have to agree to disagree.  No love lost.  You are correct that this is the era of the remake.  I just am more cynical as to why.  It isn't because that's what people want, but because it is easy.  No one needs an original idea.  Let's just remake everything or do sequels.  Very little original content.  That's a disappointment too.

I'd certainly pay for that official chipless PS2 emulator that was already made for PS3, but removed in latest versions. Might even play up to $100 bucks for it. Especially if it might increase the chances of those games going digital in the future.

You are in the minority there.  How many people would pay $100 more for their PS3 or XBOX One for that ability/emulator?  Not enough.

Bt hit it on the head.  It is purely business.

For example, I am looking forward to the new Grim Fandango, but it is the SAME game.  Should I move on and enjoy the newer version or just play the old version that I have?

Not all digital 'enhanced' remakes are the same.

I totally agree and understand.  I was specifically referring to Grim Fandango and from all accounts, it appears to be a 1:1 remake with a hopefully better interface for the player.  I am guessing it will play just like the monkey island remakes.
