Banter and Chit-Chat! / Re: Star Trek Picard Series

I do not like this show. Still only on Ep4 right now but....I do not recognize anything Star Trek in this show. Not the Federation, not Picard, not the Romulans (my favourite Trek race). Nothing. Basically just watching for Patrick and the cameos/references. I tried to like it. Saving my final opinion after I've seen it all but it's not looking good.

If you have 7Zip, try right-clicking on the install EXE and choose Extract.

You can still activate WinXP? I was sure I tried that like ages ago and it didn't work.

You won't be able to activate W7, I know at least that.

Literally the only thing that stopped working for me in Windows 10 was my old Microsoft LifeCam. Irony.

Everything else works swimmingly. Including my Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS sound card, with third party drivers. I use it for the MIDI ports via gameport adapter. Superior to my audio interface's, ironically. I've gotten every game working. Every game that works on Windows 7, anyway.

The only thing Windows 10 sucks at for me is my laptop. The laptop itself has a perfectly fine OpenGL-compatible intel graphics chip, but they never made any drivers for Win10. Would work fine in Win7, but not 10. Don't have a choice though because that's how it came to me (it was one of those Computers for Schools preloaded laptops). I had to install Ubuntu as a dual-boot to play many OpenGL-reliant games (like Minecraft and GZDoom. Strangely, though, many others work fine).

Banter and Chit-Chat! / Re: Game of Thrones finale Thoughts

I hate it. Not because what I wanted to happen didn't happen, just that it was so rushed and it made all the characters unrecognizable with all the decisions they made that they'd never do (without much more groundwork being laid). That and the Night King was just a big bad monster of evil in the end who wanted to destroy the world because reasons. Good thing they knocked him off in the third episode nice and neatly.  ::)

But everyone involved in the show (besides the writers) did a phenomenal job with what they were given. Truly fantastic work (almost) all around.

Ah. At first you compared it to that finale but then said "good film, though" which I thought implied it was good in spite of the comparison. My mistake.

What was wrong with the Voyager finale?

Fantastic conclusion to the MCU (it's finished for me). Very satisfying. Fantastic.

Yeah, we had about a month of buzz and that was about it. I'm super happy we got even that, though. And when people were talking about it they were loving it. Won't trade that for anything. It was nice just to be a part of something like that even if it doesn't get any more attention than it's gotten so far.

The cutscenes were going in the game either way as they were in the original screenplay and an integral part of the plot. So if we hadn't met the stretch goal it would have just been done with sprites in-engine (possibly with some closeups?) and done for the base amount of the Kickstarter goal. That's my guess, anyway.

@MusicallyInspired I very much enjoyed your music composed for the game. Nice job and impressive. :)

Thank you, sir! Remember, you can also buy the soundtrack! ;)

I feel bad about people being so critical of the cutscene animations. Not that the criticism is not founded or unfair, but for the sake of the animator, Akril. She's been a longtime member of the Sierra/adventure community and is a great artist. She is also the designer of the "Adventure: The Inside Job" trilogy of games. But she was not involved in any other facet of the development process. The animated cutscenes were a stretch goal addition during the Kickstarter campaign. So she was not part of the original team and was hired on to tackle that. I think she did a great job considering. She did what she was best at. But the problem is that her style clashes with the style in the rest of the game (including the hand-painted closeups). The game probably rightly deserves the criticism, but I just hope Akril doesn't take it all too badly. Some people have been very harsh about it. I haven't seen her comment on it so I don't know. Perhaps it would have just been better if that wasn't a stretch goal and the game stuck to the regular game art/sprites for those sequences. Or even just some of the hand-painted closeups.
