Can anyone help me with Chrome Web browser?
« on: September 30, 2014, 02:59:37 PM »
Hi everyone.  I am having trouble with Chrome Web browser.  My issue is this, I am running the most current ver for winXp.  I can surf the web by physically typeing addresses fine, however when i go to google search a screen pops up ans says "your connection is not secure the website might steal you data".  No way to get around this, and i have tried Chrome's website for help and emailing them with no luck.  I.E. works somewhat, but since its ver 8 and not supported anymore i constantly get certificate errors.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks,

That could potentially be malware. You could try a program like MalwareBytes or another anti-virus scan to see if there's something causing this.

https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/

If not, maybe try Firefox or Opera.

Kaldire and Broomie,

Thats almost the message i got, however its a chrome screen that states my network is not secure and refuses to load any google search.  I can go to google, but cant search anything.  I deleted chrome, reinstalled, tried to update, says im current ver,

Maybe i have a virus or malware but if so its not being picked up by Norton.  I broke down and downloaded Firefox it seems to be working ok for now, but i like Chrome better.  Who knows this pc is pushing 6 years old and im having a hell of a time upgrading to win 7.  Thanks Kaldire and Broomie.

1.

90% of my clients who I work on rigs and fix networks
have norton or mcaffe

id just erase them they really dont work

free ware and tight ship ( as posted in another tech thread somewhere here is all you need)

norton bad bad.. you even need a removal tool to get rid of it and yep NORTON is classified as malwalre no joke

not like its virus  or something but yea it takes hold of a machine and really wont let go and really wont stop anything these days

as for the GOOGLE, its who makes chrome
atm they are doing some odd changes even i dont understand,

so its not just you

try using firefox, and opening anything i get the same odd flood or overuse error. when i dont even do anything but game legally

dont USE NORTON OR MCAFFEE and esp not both togther

get malwarebytes , ccleaner etc.. and if you know how to use it hijack this, and if desperate , combofix

clean the temp files from everything first with ccleaner,
then run malware bytes
but i doubt its a malware

it seems google and aol/time/warner (now comcast) is going through many odd changes

but lets try to narrow down if its a virus (if you paid for norton im sorry... id still remove it)

thats from 17 years of NT and recovery talking.

and you cant again just uninstall you must dl an uninstaller and pick which norton you have, thats how intrusive that pos is..

i do like norton products just not the virus stuff or net security all of it is pointless and most people are infected WITH these products installed

but again i dont think its you or anything.. since google gave me that message in firefox, i think its google.. not sure whats up

but get ccleaner(64 if 64 bit)  clean up the files
and run malwarebytes  and custom the scan to do all stuff like (search in archives etc) then run the full sob scan and watch tv

hit me back a pm or post here just dont post the long results in this thread :P

and u have my email u can always shoot me that there

Certainly not a qualified IT/tech guy here, but using your key words, I found a Google group forum posting and a YouTube video that state it might be because your computer's date is incorrect.

Because the date is incorrect, the site's certificates cannot be qualified:

(You'll have to copy and paste the above link - the # in the link is throwing off the direct access above)   :-[

...and...

Of course, other people have stated they DO have the correct time & date, so they STILL have a problem...

yea its not that goatmeal

my date n time are always right

again I did chat with a few people who are saying google is transforming stuff on their end,
so get ready for gmail updates etc

in doing so they are sorting through tons of search data, anything you type they keep records of.. anything you google or click on .. and in chrome.. any page any picture etc

trust me.. nothing is secure in usa  esp

damned nsa

but hey  if the clock thing works for some cool thumbs up
but again it seems google is just now looking at data again, and flagging some for so many searches or such
esp if you have a dynamic ip and it changes constantly as most do have in usa, so it seems that it might be someone else on the network, when its just you..

annnyway

lol

ahhh i dont like this era for net security.. its so.. sad..

Chadly DID say he's using WinXP.

Since MS doesn't support WinXP anymore, is it possible that this particular version of Google Chrome sees the use of WinXP as a security threat with Google Seach?

Win XP no longer supported = potential hacker/security threat ?

yea well since xp isnt supported yea

its more vulnerable  but imo? most stable os so far  xp sp3
but yea could be that

but then why did i get the same error on win7 64bit with google only..
lol :P

but yea very true mate didnt think of that!

also his norton needs to go bye bye esp on xp, wont stop anything and just intrudes, use that uninstaller tool provided by norton chadly!
maybe that will also solve it as norton might think the os's ports etc are a risk

hell my firefox hates java, i tried to look at the hrgiger gallery and had to go into java and add exception even though i clicked ALLOW AND REMEMBER still said it was a threat

Kal and Goat

Yes i am forced to use xp service pack 3 on this old faithfull laptop of mine.  Its all i have to use at the moment frustrating as it is.  Goat may have a point as my time on the laptop is way off.  I need to replace the Bios battery.  Norton is gone, as i used their unstall utility.  Chrome is stilled screwed up.  Firefox seems to work fine as long as i make exceptions, including infamous-quests.com.  Chrome wont even allow me to do that.  I have reinstalled 3 times now with no success,  so as Kal suggests maybe its the Google guys????
