Quest for Infamy / Re: Revisiting the five steps to BT

Also, any other phrases work in that book?  I know some that do... :)

I'm curious, but I'm definitely going to need some hints...

My family was a bit late to get a computer in our home even though they made sure I was in a school that supported computing classes.  I first played KQ5 at a friend's house, and once we got our own computer, my siblings and I devoured the rest of the KQ series and a few other Sierra games.  Our computer wasn't quite powerful enough for the latest games, so it wasn't until I was in college that I really got a chance to play everything I'd missed.  I also didn't know LucasArts existed, so I hadn't played Monkey Island before then!

I like the ease of playing point-and-click games, but the text-parser ones definitely helped me with my typing.  A friend of mine actually learned some English playing them when he first came to the USA!

Quest for Infamy / Re: Fourth moonshiner action

To be honest, when I scripted this piece, I forgot to check for the tinderbox (bug on my part).  It will be fixed in the update.  :)

I figured it must be something like that.  I couldn't think of a good reason why the tinderbox wouldn't work, but  perhaps in practice it'd be harder to use.

Just got to Act 2, heading to Moonshiner now. Saw this (screencap) at the end of Act 1... Have never seen this on any previous play through... Have you guys seen this before? Pretty awesome!

I definitely haven't seen that!  Do you know what triggers it?

Most of the voices are recorded, but we didn't get them all into the build before release.  The bar was in the planning stages for quite some time, but we had much higher priorities building up to release.

Does that mean they'll make it into the update?

Sounds good to me.  I'm here relaxing...

just think now.... 1 and 2 are done by doing two different things at the very start: Watching the intro credits, and Watching the epilogue where Roehm finally ends up outside Volksville.
I disagree.  I'm standing by my interpretation of "marking" as being a reference to the rug in the cemetery.  Does anyone else have ideas?

I never thought of that. Rarely bought the tinderbox or even used it. However, there is a use for the tinderbox. Save, then combine tinderbox with smaller flint  :o

Hahaha!  That was great!

I think it's a pretty common myth that the word news originated from the cardinal directions.

Quest for Infamy / Re: Anyone figure out how to beat Bt?

It starts before you even start, and follows the rule of three.
There's been mention of watching the intro.  Are there hidden numbers in the initial credits?  Or perhaps there's something you're supposed to click or type while the intro is rolling?

Bt likes numbers and gadgets. You should too.
Are we supposed to hit a particular infamy rating during the game?  Or is there something to be collected?

Sometimes, you can escape the fire, but others can't.
I'm hoping this means I'm supposed to set something on fire.

Those who know? Dodgson knows. Dodgson tells.
Lewis Carroll?  Is this a jabberwocky reference?

Finally, you'll say "finally" and then sigh with relief.
Is that what I type in the book?  Or is it another reference to relieving oneself?

You'll have to traverse the world to put it all together.
We've got five steps to do, and not one is in the same location?

I'm definitely missing information, and I suspect I have no way of actually obtaining it.

Hmm, hydrated, relieved...  There's an achievement I couldn't get unlocked.  Is this related?

Quest for Infamy / Re: Bug testing
« on: August 05, 2014, 03:56:08 PM »
I think the hardest part of any beta testing is having the time to do it.  Just playing through the game once doesn't cut it.  Instead, every aspect of the game needs to be explored, and puzzles and dialog options have to be attempted in different combinations.  A good beta tester also has to be quite creative.  I've had some time off before my next job, and even without a job to get in the way, I don't feel I've completely explored the QFI world.  It's so vast and rich.  I wonder how helpful I'd be as a beta tester.

QFI comes across as having been extremely well-tested before release, and I appreciate the time everyone spent making it so polished.

Early on, if you get through the rune gate from prior knowledge, and after killing the beast, you can just walk through the front entrance and speak with the boss.

Ooh, I didn't know you could do that!  It was a nice scene.  You don't even need prior knowledge.  It's possible to go through the appropriate channels to learn the sequence in the first act.

Try magically scaring the Gnoll before you've learned about Hummel & the crest pieces.  :)

I really wish I'd known this sooner.  It would have made it easier to progress faster at the beginning of the game!

You clearly haven't found the buried treasure yet.

Is there really buried treasure, or is this an attempt to see how many of us try to find something that isn't there?
