Title: Worm scale
Post by: Longsunrise on July 29, 2014, 12:12:30 AM
Hey did anyone ever find a use for the worm scale from the dwarven mines?  I've now played through all the classes but never figured out what this was for.

I'm dying with curiosity.

tijer?

is dat you?

far as I know it might be path related but nope nothing here,
as far as the list of other items goes a few are for an achievement
2 are to get past someplace (wont hint where)

as for the scale though, not sure!

Ah yes--we are working on the QFI Companion (hint-guide and art-book) which should be coming along in the near future; that's probably the thing the Kickstarter reward was referring to.  Pheonix Online posted a walkthrough to their blog, though it's somewhat incomplete, and only really tells you how to solve the main plot and the side-quests.  A lot of the hidden/alternate stuff is missing.

Hahah, the worm scale.  Well, I could tell you what it does.  But what fun would that be?

A smoke bomb gets you into Tyr if you upgrade it!

Spoiler (hover to show)

Also, you won't be able to escape combat as rogue if you don't have smoke bombs in your inventory.  So there's that.  ;)

Maybe toss it in the fish lake?  I don't know.

It's not really an item that seems to have any evident use.

It seems like something the mage or alchemist would use but none of them seem to really want it.

Actually the best solution would be for someone to thoroughly explore on area/screen a day and click the scale on every last possible item/person/thing on the screen.  This is an item with no apparent use (armor maybe?) so this would be the only way to know for certain.

Even an ant can devour an elephant if it takes enough bites.  Everyone would just need to do one screen per day until someone stumbles on what it is. (the apple seller isn't the one though, you get that line with nearly any item you use)

yep im working on it :P

click on everything and one with it

whats odd is, sometimes using objects on things doesnt even do anything,
then randomly it does,

so takes a bit longer to test..

bt said there is a use for it, even if its not useful per say, so im on da hunt.

Please post a numerical count of each area you thoroughly search.  Ie,

1. Rayford's office.

2. Rayford's prison.

etc.

The game is pretty massive and there are a lot of areas to look around.

This is fun. In more ways than one. I know what it does.

Is its use referenced anywhere in the game, or is it just a case of trying it on everything and hoping you find it?

Please PLEASE don't let it be the latter case.

I utterly despised the game Teenagent where that was how 95% of all the puzzles had to be solved.  It was no puzzle game but rather a guessing game.

I don't mind a good puzzle as long as it makes sense later- doing something like using having to use the scale on some tiny object in the Necromancer's laboratory would be incredibly annoying.

Can we at least get some kinda hint?

I think it either...

1. Is an alternate way of killing the Kraken. (makes sense since you find it in the cave)

2. Is snuck into the blacksmith's water to help him build something. (scales are used in armor)

3. Is placed in the Morroi cooking pot. (weird magic spell thingy ftw!)

Ugh... this is the worst side-quest in the game. :(

I've tried just about every water except for the Morroi's stew, but I doubt it actually does anything there.

Can we get a more specific hint?

Maybe the swamp water or sewer water?

I don't mind a tough puzzle as long it makes sense.  So far, this is the only puzzle in the game that seems to be very Teenagentish.

Guys, don't go bustin' yourselves up.  The function it had got removed just before release because of a bug, and Klytos didn't know.  It'll be fixed in the update - sorry 'bout that.  I just went and checked.

Can you at least tell us what it does?

I'm sure some of us have stumbled onto the correct solution but weren't able to see it due to the bug.

Nope! I won't reveal that, so you can find out when the update is released! I'm not going to spoil it! You've just got some fun to look forward to.

Do you have to give the Wyrm scale to a Svartalf?

You have to give the scale to Klytos who opens a door to let you look at Blackthorne in the shower.
