It's not Leisure Suit Larry or QFG4.5!

There is a wash tub in one of the inns the heroine can stay in, but you will see what happens when you try to use it :P

So no, you won't see the heroine nude in the game, and it wouldn't have been right to turn the game into something that objectifies the female protaganist anyway. After all, the male protagonist in QFG never got objectified to my knowledge.

Still you will find there are a couple of things you can do which are more 'adult' - that is, get a drink at the pub, or lose all your money gambling. And there is a character which doesn't have clothes, but she is covered with a censorship bar because the game is PG.

Radiant is also planning to be at AdventureX this coming Saturday/Sunday (7th - 8th December), so if you're in London, you will get to meet him if you go.

I think Broomie will definitely get a chance to meet Radiant ;)

Ah, thanks for posting!

We're getting very close, and feedback from those who have seen the game so far has been very positive. Hopefully will be able to release sometime in the next few coming weeks, but we're definitely aiming for before the end of the year :).

I think in general, game development tends to always stretch out longer than anticipated. In my opinion, the delay will definitely be worth it, as otherwise you'll be getting something which is less enjoyable. I've done some preliminary testing and discussed various plot points with Bt, and the additional details he has added so far really help to keep the story moving and keep you engaged.

And yes, most of us are doing this in our spare time, and some of us have more spare time than others. But progress in terms of sheer volume of resources has definitely been faster than during development of KQ3 or SQ2 remakes. QFI is quite a lot bigger than these even when just talking about the art!

I will also add that with each additional piece of art, it needs to be programmed in along with additional writing. The parts of any game which are the most work are programming and animation. Programming is hard because it is all about the detail, and implementing a lot of things which people often take for granted when they play a game :).

Ha, you've changed the links.

Now when Google crawls and sees a link saying solar panels linking to QFI, it might come up in the search results when someone googles 'solar panels' :P

What you should do is edit his post to remove his links :)

Vegemite turns 90 next Friday, and the challenge I put to Bt is to cook Vegemite caramel chocolate cups (link below):

Not sure if this has been posted, or how new this is. Filled with a lot of interesting information that basically confirms what I'd guessed all along. The higher ups just never cared about games. I'm truly sad to read about what 1313 was going to be and what it didn't have the chance to become. This kind of behaviour is so rampant in the entire gaming industry today and is why I still kind of believe that the market will crash again as a result. You can only destroy good projects and screw over loyal fanbases so long before finally they'll wake up and get sick of it. At least, I'd hope so. Good developers and names that were gaming's biggest and best disappear as a result and in their place we have snobby douchebag companies (really, the suits and higher ups/execs) that couldn't give a care about any of it as long as it follows marketing research enough to not be too big a risk so they can make money.

I'm afraid that this happens everywhere, not just in the games industry. With any commercial business, the main goal is to make money for the shareholders (and it's not good enough to simply make a profit, there must also be year on year growth). Often people at the top are lawyers/accountants and likely also risk averse to spending money on something that may be great but unproven (or in this case, not in line with the branding or direction they want the company to take). They also tend to look at visible obvious costs, but fail to consider lost opportunities or hidden costs.

And often they look for short term gains in order to make themselves look good for their end of year bonus, neglecting the long term good of the company, and even leaving a mess for someone else in the future to clean up, when they have long moved on. It basically comes down to greed and selfishness.
