Banter and Chit-Chat! / Playing Rhem 2 in Windows 7 64 bit
« on: May 16, 2015, 09:17:22 PM »
The game does really well, but I can't find the save files anywhere on the HD. I copied the entire game folder and pasted it on a pc running Win XP 32 bit, the saves didn't go with it, proving the save files are hidden somewhere in the win 7 64 bit hd. In win 7 64 bit, even the game directory has no save files, yet I can restore them.

On the XP 32 bit machine, the save files are found in the dpot directory. Anyone have an idea why the save files can't be found on the win 7 64 bit machine. I even have the show hidden directories option enabled.

>

Finally found the save location for Rhem 2 in win 7 64 bit. with view hidden files/folders, here's where I found them:

\\GEORGE-PC\Users\George\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Rhem2_E\DATA\DPOT

The George-PC was hidden.

Banter and Chit-Chat! / This really wizzes me off

Some demented sob sold my email to the spam add industry. All kinds of offers, but not all that troublesome. I just highlight all messages in the junk folder and delete them.

Banter and Chit-Chat! / Anyone tried the Rhem 1-4 series?
« on: April 19, 2015, 11:34:06 AM »
I'm presently struggling with Rhem 1. Even had to resort to a couple of walkthroughs (seems there are only the two available). What really ticks me off is the inability or reluctance to give precise directions: For instance, you start out by being lead precisely through several check points, doing things, told to remember this or that location and what it contains. Then after several minutes, you're instructed to go back to a certain spot and no directions are given. Hell, my memory is only just good to a certain point, and I cannot store mental maps.

Seems as if several things are recycled in different authors walkthroughs, leaving me to question whether or not these authors have actually even started the games.

Does anyone know of a walkthrough for Rhem 1 that has precise directions in returning to a previous location or object rather than just saying to go back to the location you first were at several minutes or hours ago? I guess I could completely cover one wall with blank paper and plot all movements. But I was hoping to do some games before going to the great reward.

Banter and Chit-Chat! / Creating a world of spoiled brats
« on: April 14, 2015, 11:32:54 AM »
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about
Eleven things they did not and will not learn in school.
He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings
Created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and
How this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1 :   Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 :   The world doesn't care about your self-esteem.
The world will expect you to accomplish something
BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 :   You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school.
You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 :   If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 :   Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity.
Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping:
They called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault,
So don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 :   Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring
As they are now.  They got that way from paying your bills,
Cleaning your clothes and listening to you
Talk about how cool you thought you were:
So before you save the rain forest
From the parasites of your parent's generation,
Try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8 :   Your school may have done away with winners and losers,
But life HAS NOT.  In some schools, they have abolished failing grades
And they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer.
*This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 :   Life is not divided into semesters.
You don't get summers off and very few employers
Are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF.
(Do that on your own time.)

Rule 10 :   Television is NOT real life.
In real life, people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11 :  Be nice to nerds.
Chances are you'll end up working for one.

If you can read this...thank a Teacher.

If you can read this in English...thank a Soldier!

And for life and everything else you have...thank God!

Now....think about this and smile if you agree and please pass this on....

If you don't agree, go stick your head in the SAND and take a DEEP BREATH!

The very first time, or early on, I recall attempting a later quest as a Brigand, when I didn't know my way around. Now, many brigand playthroughs later, some time after the caravan robbery just south of Hummel's location. I happened to speak to Kurdt at night in the Volksville tavern, and got an escort quest of a certain merchant Big D.

Quest for Infamy / Secret rooms past and present
« on: February 25, 2015, 08:00:43 PM »
Have long since played all three characters and found their secret rooms. I found the best way to do this, with help from a couple of pro's, is to think backwards if that makes any sense.

Found out that the Rogue can often use his map inside of Tyr during the night, while the Sorcerer and Brigand cannot.

>

Days later;
I've often wondered about a game quest possibly overlooked. Maybe I'm thinking about the wrong game. I thought the Brigand had a job to escort some dignitary. It might not be QFI. can anyone verify this?

All gamers and most of the infamous staff have been silent. What gives? Are they still working on the final release of 1.1?

Quest for Infamy / Finally a fully working download of 1.1
« on: February 14, 2015, 09:14:55 PM »
Everything went fine from the Crypt onwards. As a Brigand I found the secret room and ate some cake!
I really appreciate you all making the Slaver quest so much harder >:(
Fortunately saved before going in the doorway. Had to try several times there and inside.
Discovered the Space Bar turns hotspots on and off. When on, certain movements are only done by arrow keys.
Minor issues in dwarf mines still there (turning around in scaffold room and one room with a barrel near the door.

Oh yea, I kept getting caught by a guard when breaking into Brattles cabin. That difficulty too was added I guess.

Now I'm on the way with the Rogue. Wonder where his secret room is.  ???

After thought; now it's not really broken, so why try to fix it? All in all, I give it a high upper 90's.

>
Here it is another day. Cleaned out registry and defragged the hd.  Replayed as Brigand again and it too now is flawless.

When trying to enter Brattle's cabin at night, no guards outside of town, I still get caught by a guard!!??

After entering the crypt and killing Hummel, Rayford shows up, Rhoem says Oh Shit then dies. What's wrong here?
Did I do something out of sequence?

Quest for Infamy / game screen is so tiny in 1.1
« on: February 12, 2015, 03:21:09 PM »
Finally purchased and downloaded 1.1. Why is the game screen so tiny? I need full screen. In the winsetup, resolution is something like 320/200 or whatever, direct3d9, and no filtering, and windowed is unchecked. So how come the tiny game screen?

below are the default acsetup settings:

IQ Chat / Where and how to purchase QFI 1.1
« on: February 12, 2015, 10:30:48 AM »
Something is amiss with my copy of 1.0 and it won't even install after uninstalling it several weeks ago.

Can I just download the new 1.1 and also get the companion, etc. when everything else is available?

Can I download QFI 1.1 from Infamous Quests and will you accept a prepaid debit card. Other methods and credit cards have long ago left a most unpleasant after-taste.

If all the above is possible, either let me know here or by email and how to go about it, and how much should I have on the debit card.  :)
