IQ Chat / Changing background...
« on: March 13, 2013, 09:49:18 PM »
It took me this long to finally realize today that...

...when you visit the forum page, the background changes and mirrors what time it is -- the blue screen during the day, the redish-orange while visiting in early evening, and the black night screen at night.

Pretty cool.  I assume it's dependent on your computer's local time setting?  What are the times that the backgrounds change?

I am a little sad that you managed to get in and comment before I got a chance to tell the story of how you were so traumatized by the giant rock creature that you developed a petrifying (see what I did there?) lifelong fear of rocks that has seriously hampered your abilities to hold down jobs and relationships.  Oh well.  There's always the next forum.

Unfortunately, this derailed Blackthorne's boyhood dream of becoming a world-renowned Geologist...

So which type is the most frightening for you, BT?  Igneous rock?  Metamorphic rock?  Sedimentary rock?  Easy listening adult middle-of-the-road 1970s soft rock?

I was including Sci-Fi in this, too, Goatmeal - so no apologies!  Did I mention "Dragonslayer" or "Krull" yet?

Bt

Arrgh!  I TOTALLY forgot Dragonslayer (1981) -- starring Peter "The Biscuit" (Ally McBeal)/"Janosz Poha" (Ghostbusters II) MacNicol -- when I was looking at my DVD list earlier today...   ::)

Aside from the obvious "biggies" from the 1980s (Star Wars / Star Trek / Indiana Jones / Back To The Future / Ghostbusters / RoboCop)...

Excalibur (1981)
Mad Max 2 / The Road Warrior (1981)
Time Bandits (1981, Terry Gilliam)

Blade Runner (1982)
The Dark Crystal (1982)
TRON (1982)

Brazil (1984, Terry Gilliam)
The Last Starfighter (1984)

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985)

Big Trouble In Little China (1986)
Highlander (1986)

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988, Terry Gilliam)

(Sorry for skewing more Sci-Fi -- it's what I like!)

and stalking

That's the name of the of the classic Intellivision game, "Night Stalker," from which this particular animation cycle was used (and recreated here).  The character you play is being stalked by robots, so there's not a whole lot of walking around to avoid/destroy them -- you have to run!   :D

I can slow down the animation cycle to more of a "walk" speed, if you'd like.   ;)

Well they do, I'm assuming walking irl isn't like that for most people  :o

True enough, but it looks pretty good "in motion"...

Your profile pic.....

What's that bump in his rear?  Did Roehm take a dump or something?

As everyone else mentioned, it is indeed his foot (specifically his boot), kicked-up behind him...

Of course now we all have to wait for the full game to be completed, it'll be torture.

especially if people start asking 'is it done yet.'  :o

...Well, is it?

I gotta ask- do the Coles have a board or fan email where they can be reached.

I can't stand it, I MUST know the truth about that log!

Prior to their successful "Hero-U: Rogue To Redemption" Kickstarter, they had a website:

http://www.theschoolforheroes.com

However, it hasn't been updated since, October 20, 2012, the day after they kickstarted Hero-U, and appears to be "abanonded" or "post-poned" for now, which is too bad.

At the time, Lori had some amazing posts about the women of QFG under the Blog/Questlogs, especially about the back-stories/origin stories/histories of both Erana and Katrina.  Lori had gotten up to QFG4, but the Kickstarter seemed to have derailed that series of posts.  It too bad, as Katrina's fascinating story wasn't quite completed before the Kickstarter began...

The Official Hero-U website has its own forum at:

http://www.hero-u.net/forum/

but I'm not sure if the Coles are frequent posters there, either.  I get the feeling they are both extremely busy developing their new game...

Corey will pop up every once in a while at the Kickstarter Comments section for Hero-U.  I _think_ that's where Blackthorne asked about the purpose of the building to the left of the bar in Spielburg.

Again, lately, his posts are more about the nuts-and-bolts of making Hero-U a reality, but you never know...

Its often bothered me how various means seem locked out in these sorts of games depending on what class you are.  If I were in the main characters place I'd use any means I could to achieve my objective - magic, weaponry or plain old sneakery.

That's what gave them their "re-play-ability" !

How do I figure out what system I'm running it in?

Right-click on "My Computer" (if you have that on your desktop), then Left-click on "Properties."

Alternately, you can use this link from Microsoft:

B2DB --

"You may find that having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting.  This is not logical, but it is often true."
-- Spock, giving advice to Stonn in Star Trek's 1967 episode "Amok Time"

You've certainly built-up hype about this game for yourself so much that I'm afraid once you finally DO get to play it, you be all like, "Meh," and it'll be a tremendous let-down...   ???

There's nothing to fear, however; when QFI's full game is finally released, it will once again restore your faith in computer gaming...   ;D

just drop it in the game's folder.

Please elaborate.  What do I do exactly?  I tried copying that text into a random cfg file and putting it into the game's folder but, it had no effect.

What I believe Collector is saying is:

1. Download the file (Right-click and "Save Link As...")

2. Move that file to the folder that contains the games data.  As you have not stated what type of operating system you are running (Windows 8 / 7 / Vista / XP / ME / 2000 / 98 / 95 / Win 3.1 ), it may be in a different folder location...

NOTE:

A. Do NOT copy the data into a new file or change the name of the file in any way.  The game SPECIFICALLY looks for the file named "acsetup.cfg" that Sslaxx has posted.
