Quest for Infamy / Re: Update / replace intro V.O. in QFI 2.0?
« on: February 24, 2019, 10:18:18 PM »
It'd be cool if the voices were consistent but I think most people aren't going to notice and it's not like a lot of developers go back and recast voices if the actors change in a later game, so I'm ok with the intro staying the way it is.

I am supporative and enthusiastic too! I really think that someday there will be a resurgance in interest for adventure games like QFI and others. Maybe it's a pipe-dream?  Lots of people enjoyed these games in the past. And hey if Bell-bottom jeans can come back in style so can adventure games.  It just takes proper advertising. I'm tired of shoot-em ups and MMo's. Hell i tired of most games these days. Long live Infamous Quests!!! Lets KS for QFI2!!!!!

Hey I'm liking Mage's Initiation!  Still need to play Hero-U and then get back to actually finishing QfI...

I'm pretty confident it'll come out as well.  Games take time and being one of the earlier KS projects I think they vastly underestimated how long it would take with the resources they had (which seems to happen to nearly every video game kickstarter I've backed).  Unfortunately, most people either don't know or don't care to learn about how games are made which is why so many KS comment sections get toxic after a long period of time.  Like other people have said, that they're doing voice acting recordings is a good sign they're in the home stretch so hopefully it'll be out sometime next year.

I'm not expecting anything mind blowing, but this is my first Two Guys game so I'm looking forward to it.  I'm really hoping they manage to connect with an audience for it.

I've been pretty tough for 15 years.  I will see how much longer I can go.  I am pretty stubborn.

Give it hell man.

Seriously, take care of yourself and your family first and foremost.  And is there anything we can do to help?

There's plenty of adventure game companies out there doing alright.

Didn't Wadjet Eye announce not long ago that Unavowed had their best launch ever?  Hero-U also seems to be doing well enough that they're talking about a side project and a sequel...  Those are probably the two highest profile releases recently.

I liked that Telltale managed to keep the genre in the public's conciousness when there wasn't many other developers investing in the genre at the time.  And I think they get some credit for trying to get their games onto consoles which is a bit of a precursor to what's going on with the Switch these days.

But... that was then and TT is...was... just one of many making narrative/story focused games.  And you know, the companies that didn't try to grow a massive ton after they had their one breakout hit still seem to be doing ok for themselves.

IQ Chat / Re: Kings Quest For Steve video upload?

If anyone wants to see some of the art that was re-used the old Kingdom of Sorrow page was archived by archive.org: https://web.archive.org/web/20121019102438/http://www.infamous-adventures.com/home/index.php?page=games

There's definitely a couple of backgrounds that were obviously re-puprosed for OotT:TKC

I think not doing a second KS is good idea.  I don't have a big problem with second rounds of funding (games are expensive to make and KS projects generally seem to lowball the expesnses) for projects but organizing and running a successful KS is a lot of work based on all the horror stories I've heard.  If the development pace is already slow because you have less resources to go around a KS is going to stall progress and momentum on the existing projects a lot.  Which it doesn't sound like is a luxury you have at this time.

That said, I'm still rooting for IQ.  Even if things slow down I'd love to see you all continuing to make the games you want to make and play.  Hopefully you and your audience will find each other :)

(And you guys have not been a let down at all.  Even though QfI didn't have the greatest production values in the industry no one can deny the sheer amount of ambition and passion that went into that project.  And King's Challenge was a solid achievement as well.  You guys successfully delievered two (soon-ish to be 4) crowdfunded projects in less time than it's taken many other teams.  That's awesome and something to be proud of.)

So what's this about a Special Edition that BT is talking about on Twitter?

*hype intensifies*

Girlfriend wanted to watch Stranger Things tonight with no prompting from me, so who was I to argue?  It was really good!  No wonder the IQ team made a game about it :)

Sorry for your loss Kaldire, but glad to hear it was a good service.

Prisma is fun, isn't it?

It is!  I just wish they had a desktop or web client.  Seems to really like screenshots with obvious pixels :)

It's not even the cost of the booth so much as the cost to just get, and stay, there!

Good point.  I don't travel much so that never even crossed my mind!

Some more thoughts:

1) Add the QfI hint/art book available as DLC on Steam if you can.  Then create a $20 "deluxe" edition including it.  Maybe you'll get some extra cash that way?  Also, why isn't it even available on the game's website?  I don't know about the official wiki but I checked and there's absolutely 0 FAQs for the game on GameFAQs, so if you're stuck on a puzzle or quest (like I was) you're really stuck!

2) Can you work something out with James to get the OSTs for your games on Steam as DLC?  That probably won't help out IQ financially but it might help him get some extra cash for his work.

3) Add a Finn cameo appearance in QfI 2.0 if you haven't already.  I know it's gaudy and shameless, but it's totally in the spirit of Sierra and games of that era.  Ask me about Loom!

4) In addition to cameos, Sierra games used to put plugs for upcoming or past games in their about screens.  It can't hurt to do something like that in QfI or TKC right?

5) Bryan Cebulski and Jonathan Kaharl seem to cover AGS games for HardcoreGaming101.net.  See if you can get in contact with them to write about your games.

6) If you have the resources, would adding additional language support help?  Is that something AGS supports?

I don't have a social media presence with which to tweet these at the IQ team, so here's some doctored up screenshots I generated with some filtering software called Prisma last night which I thought people might appreciate.  You all can blame RPS for this nonsense.

Enjoy!  (I would've done QfI as well but I didn't have any good screenshots in my Steam account :()
